TO BE WANTED—TO BE NEEDED—TO BE LOVED
Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2017
The story is book two in the series but reads as a standalone. It does have the three main characters from book one, The Passion of Jane, make an appearance and allow Lady Jane Shevington and Molly Burke some time to talk openly, and candid.
Molly Burke, originally from Ireland, is a courtesan in Paris and, in spite of her lifestyle, she does have her standards, one being that she will not be with a married man. Molly’s life has been controlled by men where she is used as a pawn for their gain, at her expense. From being kicked out of her family home at 14-years-old because her stepfather showed her interest, to Jonathan using her for financial gain as a pimp, to the men he sold her to and they cruelly abused her. She may be a courtesan, but she does want a say in her life.
Her latest protector has recently become engaged, and she is cutting ties with Paul Taillon and is planning on leaving his apartment. She will have Lord Raphael Westbrook, and Lord Dante Blackwell visit her during this time. What she doesn’t know is their nefarious plan to kidnap her and take her to London to make her pay for hurting Toby. “You should know by now there will be no relief for you—only pain.” “There is give and take, something offered and something given, in each relationship.”
The plot will have Molly, once again, being controlled by men, not just one man, but three dominant men. She will be kidnapped and taken from Paris and transported to London where she will be under house arrest by her captors. She will be kept in a nursery, told what to eat, what to wear, dressing her like a little girl, when to sleep, including naps, and punished often. The freedom that Molly had in Paris is gone now that she is in London and under the control and protection of three Lords. What will happen when not everything is as they thought, will they release her, or make her stay? There is trouble on the way with danger for Molly from her past. How far will Rafe, Toby, and Dante go to in order to keep Molly safe? Can Molly heal the hurt and pain these three men have suffered? Maybe she is the key to a future with a happily ever after ending.
“Rafe is like a strict father, who is stern and hard to please. But when he is happy with me, it’s like the sun is shining. Toby is more like a favorite uncle, dispensing warmth and treats. And Dante can be remote, but is also kind and takes care of my needs. I cannot imagine my life without all of them. “
