File format problems!
Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2018
I recently transferred my father's dozens of 8 mm films of us from the late 1940s, the 1950s, and the early 1960s from video tapes that they were transferred to in 2000 to my computer via the DigitNow! device I bought here at Amazon, and the file format was .avi. I then bought this Apeman portable DVD player because their site stated that it is compatible with the avi file format. I then copied the video files to a 4 gigabyte mcro SD card but when I inserted that card into the DVD player it showed 'file error' on its screen and refused to play them. I then copied the video files to DVD platters, again with the avi extension, but the player again refused to play them. Using video conversion software I bought on the Web, I then converted the original avi files to MP4 format on additional DVD platters because, again, Apeman's site said that that format, too, is compatible. Wrong! They, too, wouldn't play!!! I contacted Apeman via e-mail and they had no solution to this mess. Other than these major problems, I will admit that this player plays commercial DVDs well, but that is about all it is capable of doing.
