Need a good value pair of gym shorts?

The Good:
-Comfortable
-Good fit (got small and I have a 30” waist”
-Solid color pattern
-Has pockets
-Launders easily

The Bad:
-None

The Bottom Line:
I’ve been wearing these gym shorts around the house and when I’m working out. They’re comfortable and soft. In terms of sizing they fit great as I got small and have a 30” waist. The thing I like best is that the shorts have pockets, I really dislike not having pockets. Overall I would recommend these Amazon gym shorts.

OK quality but huge! XL is good for someone with a 48-50" waist...!

I normally wear XL shorts. However, these are what I consider to be 2XL or 3XL. Measured across the waistband with no tension they are 43". The elastic does not go tighter and the draw cord is not very helpful if you have to rely upon that. Fully stretched, these should fit someone with a 50-52" waist. If you normally wear 38" waist, buy the Large and they will still be loose and baggy, but acceptable.

Started to fray after one leg day...

I really wanted to like these. I really did. They felt comfortable. They fit nice and were a great length for me.

But after just half a workout in the gym, they started to fray (as seen in my photo). I warmed up with some jogging than performed some deadlifts, leg press and continued on to leg extensions when I noticed the fraying of the material after just three exercises.

This doesn't speak well for the longevity of these shorts. I didn't feel like having to deal with the poor quality of the shorts and requested a return in the middle of my workout. I was disappointed since I was so excited about these shorts.

These will probably be fine for some jogging or elliptical work, but nothing even slightly intense. You're better off spending a couple of extra bucks on something that will last more than a few workouts.

Thin No Lining 😐

They fit good and they are the right length and look fairly decent but they are thin and there is no lining. Pretty cool in hot weather though. Not sure how long before they start to rip or tear. We'll see how long they last. They are like cheap basketball shorts like you wear to practice not for a game.

Update: Its only been a week or two washed maybe 3 or 4 times and it's starting to fray. 😕 see last pic. If they stepped up the quality a bit I would buy more. The thinness does keep you cool but if it comes apart ... 🙁

Warning! These things absolutely STANK after you wear them at the gym!!!!! I can’t even stand myself after I sweat in them. You know that gosh-awful-jungle-juice-butt-funk-polyester-gym-clothing-sweat-stank-odor that doesn’t ever wash out of some pieces of clothing no matter how many times you wash them on the scalding hot setting? That’s what these do. Even specialized sports fabric detergent doesn’t wash it out! The fabric is CHEAP and those stinky microbes love it. If you’re planning on working out and you sweat at all, avoid these shorts, no matter how good of “value” they are. I’m throwing mine out and going to the store to get quality, name brand shorts with modern technology fabrics!!! Two stars for value alone. Even that is hard to give because of how stinky they get.

Extremely Thin

These shorts are entirely too thin! They are a single layer of thin material that shows absolutely every detail of what's beneath them. Even if you're working out in the privacy of your own home, I wouldn't trust them to hold up to anything that involves sitting because they're just that thin. I didn't even bother trying them on because I could literally see right through them as soon as I took them out of the bag.

One positive is that they are true to size when I compare them side by side to my other shorts. Another positive is that the gray color in the display picture is accurate to what I received which is a pleasant surprise since portraying accurate color tones often seems to be a tricky task for most sellers.

Pungent upon arrival

The package arrive, stinking from holding. My GOD it stank. I open the out package and the clear individual bags, the shorts STANK EVEN WORSE. The stench is repugnant, that I don't know how to describe it. I threw it in the laundry basket and it quickly stank up the whole bathroom. The smell reminded me of them being soaked in urine and crap and packed to bags.. I would feel bad for the Amazon driver/delivery person. I can't imagine how Amazon could have missed it.

It stank so bad that I was just going to throw them into the trash, but it would have stank up my trash!!!! I figure I just soak it and rinse them out... My god, it took nearly 16 wash and rinses (3 times with fragrant soap) to get "brown color" water out of the 2 shorts!!!

I am certain the shorts are fine, but I will never, NEVER GET THAT STENCH out of my head... So irresponsible of the SUPPLIER on QC.

"Essential" for every day use, Does NOT Perform during Workouts

Personal Experience:
I was on a work trip and forgot to bring workout shorts; purchased these to get me through the 7 day trip. My expectation was that "Performance Shorts" would be able to stand up to a workout... I was mistaken. Within 3 workouts the shorts are already showing signs of wear and the fabric is coming apart. If you are using these for sleepwear or lounging then you made a decent purchase. If you intend to purchase these for more "active" movement you will likely be disappointed.

Pros:
Inexpensive lounging/sleep shorts
Fits well
Was delivered quick for my work trip

Cons:
Began to fall apart after 3 workouts
Material does not feel as good as my Adidas or Nike shorts
Does not live up to "Performance" name

Cheaply made - Amazon Essentials workout shorts

The color, the fit, the pockets and length are all great. These are not loose-fitting as advertised. I weigh 195 and have a 36" waist and I would say the fit is neither loose nor tight. If you work out with a cell phone in your pocket you'll likely want to buy one size larger than you usually buy. I have had these for two months now and they are already coming apart. I've washed them each week for about 8 weeks and the stitching around the hem of the legs is coming undone and the tie string in the waist band is coming apart. I won't buy these again. I'll pay more and get something that will last a couple of years.

I searched the house, I sniffed around my baby’s bottom, I blamed my tween daughter, I struggled to bring my foot to my nose in order to investigate. Where was that smell coming from? Then it hit me. These shorts!!! I couldn’t figure it out because, unlike my dog, I cannot smell my own crotch. It was so embarrassing! My wife wouldn’t touch me. Admitting this after discovering it was the shorts, she just wished I had scrubbed my eggs better. “Or at all.” I thought I had skipped washing them somehow. But, straight after washing them (twice!) they still stunk! Don’t buy these shorts unless you want you family to leave you alone indefinitely. If that’s what you’re going for, then buy the 2 pack. Great value. Awful stench. 2 of 5 stars.
