Maybe look at a map?

I am happy to ignore plot holes and mistakes by lots of self-published romance writers and I certainly don’t expect heavily researched details throughout. But when most of your book takes place in a foreign country, maybe just a quick check of the map before you start? First, I got stuck on why any ship would take 28 days to get to Puerto Rico from anywhere on the US east coast. It’s a 2-day trip max. Then I couldn’t understand why Colombia would be a good place for an emergency stop off BEFORE they got to Puerto Rico — since it is really out of the way. Then the author seemed to think Columbia was a city (in Columbia?) and that Bogota is a just cab ride away from the shipping docks on the coast? It is an airline flight from the Caribbean coast to Bogota or a very very long drive. Swan has the lovers dashing between the ship docked in “Colombia” to and from Bogota by taxi repeatedly as if it were a ride across town. Just look at a map!! Lots of other editing and dialogue mistakes — American thugs talking like Aussies, ridiculous coincidences, impossible luck. All of this is too distracting from the story and really gets in the way.
