Star Wars redone
Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2020
This book unlike the “first” one seems very “Star Wars”y. Hyper-space, blasters, deflector shields, mandalorean armour, guys in robes with force powers, ships shaped like the Melllinium Falcon, etc. A lot of unoriginal concepts just told in another way.
I also have a problem with the different writing styles from chapter to chapter. There seems to be no consistency in the style of writing and that annoyed me a bit.
Also, Star Wars came out in the age of innocence, when we all thought that humans would be living on Mars by the end of the mellinium. Unfortunately that has not happened and now we pretty much all know that our galaxy is vast (400+ billion star systems and counting). Even with FTL travel it would take us thousands of years just to populate our arm of the galaxy. Nevermind the entire galaxy.
The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy. Exactly which edge on which arm is this series referring to?
Overall I think this is a nice sci-fi/fantasy read. But nothing really new.
