She would be a lot better off, and happier, without him

*spoilers* He took off across the country for school, leaving her behind. Rarely talked to her. Missed important events with no apology or explanation. Broke his promise about coming back after school. (He was supposedly doing this for her, but didn’t bother to let her know that, or even ask if that was what she wanted.) Again, no apology, no explanation. When she gives up on him being a decent, caring human being, does he try to fix it? No. He dates and fux every model and actress he can find, not caring the photos in the papers had to be ripping her apart. When she calls to commiserate with him when he was in trouble, he Again had the opportunity to try to fix it. He did not. Instead he was having a sexfest when she called, and she had the dubious pleasure of hearing another woman over the phone. He somehow (stupidly) blamed her for everything, and had the GALL to think that She was the one that sacrificed their relationship for school. I detest men that won’t take responsibility for their actions, and this one more than most.
All of this BS happened within the first third of the story. I don’t understand a decent author condoning and trying to persuade us to accept this guy as a decent man. Age does not excuse his behavior. He’s either a guy you can trust or he’s not. This one is the latter. He proved over and over again that he didn’t love her, and she’d be a fool to take him back.
