I bought this book for the purpose of improving my listening skills and help me advancing my Arabic. There are few bilingual Arabic - English books with audio in the market.
Overall, I found this book to be appropriate for an Arabic native speaker. The speech in the audio is quite fast, dramatized in line with the story and accompanied by background music. I have difficulty following the audio. There are no vocabulary pages. I have to consult dictionary many times and found the translation to deviate too much from the literal meanings. So, it does not quite help me. At my level, it is important that I understand the meaning of each word, but the book’s English translation does not help.
On the positive side, because it is a bilingual book, available on Kindle, containing good illustration with a well done, downloadable audio, I decided to give it a four star. I hope this encourages the publisher to publish more bilingual books, consider the needs of Arabic learners while catering to native Arabic-speaking children. I will return to this book once my Arabic has improved.
For fellow Arabic learners, I encourage you to consider “Easy Arabic Reader” and “Arabic Stories for Language Learners”. I am still at early chapters of these two books and will post my reviews once I am half way through the books.
