A great series full of characters with incredible power. All factions trying to change the world for what they think will be better. Remember the quote about power corrupting. Families change, sisters grow apart (and back if lucky). Blood doesn’t determine family. Choices do. See how Mathilda’s choices changed her life and the lives of those around her. Between growing as a person and the growing and changing stages of her awesome power. Realizations and lessons, some taught by friends and some by recognizing her true self. Can’t wait for the next book later this year.
Even though she wasn't looking for it. Which seems a fairly common occurrence for many people. However, love may have to wait until she saves her sister, best friend, and potential lover from the clutches of Support and a mind bending Empowered intent on creating her own Kingdom of Empowered and Imbued from followers.
A unique take on the superhero/ super villain world, in the vein of Watchman. Are the heroes really the good guys and the heroes truly bad. i noticed a few continuity errors, but they don't interfere with a good story. Read the prequel and the books in order, then pre-order the next book. you won't regret it.
Yet another great addition to the empowered series. When this series ends with book four, I hope the author tells more stories in this universe. It seems rich and complex and definitely calls out for more stories to be written here!

The Empowered series is really science fiction at its best. Grittily realistic, with flawed but strong heroes and villains that act in a manner that has some rationality to it, no matter how evil, and who are the total opposite of pushovers, a fantastic supporting cast and a plot that is clearly progressing while at the same time becoming both layered and convoluted while somehow remaining understandable. It’s book 3, Empowered: Outlaw, maintains all those characteristics yet somehow, incredibly, continues to ratchet things up in a very well written plot that gets more exciting and provides all the action and thrills you could want, plus a bit of romance (I’m rooting for Alex & Matt to make it as a couple). Our heroine, Mathilda (Matt) Brandt, continues to grow and get increasingly complex and layered herself, and she gets strong support from the supporting cast (with kudos to Ella, her sister). Actually pretty much everything in this book is more than merely strong, it’s superb.

This was a great instalment in the series, full of constantly changing relationships, twists and turns in the action and adventure, and kept you hooked from beginning to end. I continue to love Mat and how she's trying her best to help those she loves and everyone in need, even those who may not deserve her help sometimes. Her relationship with Keisha is great - 2 bad-as*ed bi**hs, as Mat might say - and her new relationship with Alex is really heartwarming too. A definite must-read for all Empowered lovers, and I can't wait to read the conclusion to Mat's adventures when book 4 is released next year! NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

This book is a brilliant read. Mat has more family problems, mostly worrying about her sister Ella, and also is struggling with new emotions. She is still taking on the role of protector and encounters a very insidious individual who gave me the creeps. The story and the characters are well-written and just pull you in until suddenly, the book is finished and it's nearly time to get up for work! Dale's imagination is amazing and this is a series that is like no others I have read. You can read this as a standalone but will make more sense if you read the previous two books and the prequel. I recommend that you give them all a try because they are so good and I can't wait for the next one.

Dale Ivan Smith has done it again. This series just keeps getting better. I love this story line. The bad guys always have very impressive powers which is why their defeat is all the better. Mat is just as strong as ever and she is finally realizing just how important it is to get all that anger under control and not let it rule her and her actions. I am so happy that Alex and Mat are getting together, Yay. I can’t wait for the next installment. It is definitely worth reading. I received an advanced copy of this book and I absolutely loved it.
