OK Honesty first have only read The Mailman the first story. Fantastic somehow Mr Bates has taken you into a housewife life at 40. The story you will not put down, you will finish maybe hour and half for me to read and I just had to take a break. You will fall in love with Jade, she is real and you can feel her pain. I've read at least 7 or 8 of Jeremy Bates novels and he is skillful, talented and just a great author. Read this book it is scary and will keep you on the edge of sanity as you follow our hero Jade the housewife as she fails at life is punished and.... 5 stars
I had read all of these stories before, individually; but just on a whim I got the book and read them again. I still marvel at Jeremy Bates skill as a writer, and especially as a story teller. The short story is an art form all into itself, and Bates keeps proving that he's in the DaVinci class at his art. If you haven't read them, do. If you have, give them another look. You'll be glad you did. I know I was.
I enjoyed this book, a collection of stories by an author whose work I've been reading a lot of, lately. Mr. Bates has a clean, clear, yet eerie way of telling a story. "Bad People" is about- yup-, bad people. Sometimes they get what's coming to them..sometimes it's not so sure.
