How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsGrammer issues
Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2020
I loved the storyline to his book. This is the type of books I love to read as they keep me entertained and guessing what the next move will be. Only huge issue of mine was here was quite a bit of Grammer issues in this book. Numerous amounts of words either missing or a misuse of words. If I had to guess I counted over 10 problems. It almost made the book seem like a high schooler wrote it rather than a professional author but I didn't let it stop me from enjoying the storyline. I would still recommend the book to others to read.

1.0 out of 5 starsIrrational Characters and Too Much Jumping to Conclusions
Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2019
After reading the Cellar and Cabin, I keep wanting to like Prestons' work. I tried starting this book 3 different times. I finally got into in the 3rd time...sort of.

Reasons I hated this book:
1. The characters are being tracked by a serial killer. They ignore the cops and go out like everything is normal. SPOILER: so surprise when one ends up dead.
2. The writing was poor. Some details were over-explained...while others needed more explanation.
3. Lylah and her friends receive a letter within the first 20 minutes. INSTANTLY she wants to call the cops even though the school is known for playing pranks around Valentine's Day. This to me made me draw away from the book immediately. Someone sends an anonymous note around Valentines saying "You will be mine" and you think you should call the cops? It makes no sense, and makes the plot line less believable.
4. There is no build up of characters. Instantly you are thrown in to a plotline with 6 different characters that get a paragraph or less of description. It makes it hard to imagine the story, connect with them, and keep the plotline clear.
5. SPOILER When they assume who the killer is they just go with it. No other leads are thought of and they instantly know it must be this person even though there is no evidence linking him directly, other than a hunch.
6. END OF THE BOOK SPOILER The ending was even worse then imagined, it leaves unanswered questions. What happens next? If there were to be a sequel I would be shocked, it would be more repetitive then the book already was.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.

I really liked her other book The Cellar (I believe it was called that). But this one was really poorly written and I called the plot twist from chapter 1 or 2

I really wanted to like this book. The plot was trivial. The supposed, killer is killing because the main character rejected his kiss, and kept him in the friend zone. That is so weak, and tired. There is no time to get to really know the characters. The book talks about the hard time Lylah had while dealing with her parents’ sudden deaths, but not in depth. What really made Riley, behave the way he did. Why would he starfish Charlotte to the hood of a police car? What was the purpose of Zac, and why did it seem like he, also, had a thing about Lylah, too. Who was Sienna? Why was Sonny, first? The death order is a mystery. She was in love with Chase, and he should have been dealt with first. She would have broken down, and Riley would have been there to save her. What was Charlotte’s backstory? The author didn’t finish this book. It was barely started. There were so many hooks that were not used. It’s a recycled, bad, horror movie, in book form. I made myself finish this book, and it was torture. If there is another connected book, I won’t be reading it. I’d like my wasted time, and money back. This book is so not worth it. But, this is my opinion. Others may love this book. To each his own.

1.0 out of 5 stars It was like watching a bad remake of the Scream movies
Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2018
Have you ever watched a teen slasher film like Scream? If so, you've read this book already. Kids/young adults die left and right in gruesome ways. And in the end, it's exactly who you thought it was. All that is missing is Scooby Doo to help rip the mask off the bad guy. Don't waste your time. The Cellar is a much better book by the same author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Messy and boring spoilers
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2021
I don't know how to hide spoilers so read at your own risk. The entire 90% of the story is composed of receiving letters and making stupid decisions. Even the cops are incompetent at their job. I didn't feel attached to any of the characters. The entire story was anticlimactic.

I knew Jake was dead from the beginning. Although, I was wrong about who killed him. I had my suspicions between Chace and Riley. Chase made more sense to me. Picking Riley at the end felt rushed and unbelievable.

The only + was that this book was KU.

What a stupid book.

-Annoying characters
-Typos and grammatical errors
-Uninteresting story
-Mediocre writing

If it wasn't so short this would have been a DNF.

1.0 out of 5 stars LETDOWN
Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2019
What a huge disappointment. Reading each chapter was like hearing a broken record. & typos?? REALLY? The ending was so predictable & I’m so upset that I spent time & money on this book. I was pretty excited to get to the ending for the final reveal but it ended up being a HUGE letdown. The ending could’ve been su ch a great plot twist (It was Lylah all along or one of her roommates) but nooooo. It’s 2 am, I just finished this book & knew I had to share my disappointment with others. Okay bye

1.0 out of 5 stars The Cellar sequel???
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2022
This is listed as being a sequel to the cellar. How? Zero connection from what I read. This book is also filled with grammatical errors. The Cellar was so good, but this one left me perplexed as to how it has so many rave reviews.
