This is a magnificent book to read and to gift. It fills the senses so completely -- ones emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs.
The interweaving of emotion, beauty, literature, and the real pleasures of solitude is seamless. Just reading the book, one feels exhilarated in a relaxed and satisfying way. Whether one travels, wishes to travel or was once an avid traveller, this book is for you. And if you are looking for ways to be more comfortable alone, this book is also for you.
Alone Time is beautifully and lyrically written -- a must read. There are many great quotes from the author herself and from other more famous people. One of my favourite is from the author herself: “When you’re not sitting across from someone, you’re sitting across from the world.”
The book lends itself to much discussion (for book club readers and travellers alike) on the values and sometimes hidden qualities of solitude. Enjoy!
