I have a very basic understanding of French and always look for interesting beginners level books to expand my knowledge. My friend who studied French in high school recommended this book to me seeing my interest in the language. I would say this book is a fun and easy way to add to your French vocabulary. The best part for me is the quick recap of the words and the side-by-side translation part because, for me, it reinforces my learning and this feature kept me engaged. Overall, a great book for French enthusiasts but amateurs like me. I would recommend this book!
I learnt french at school and I was pretty good. I bought this book to refresh my memory and be able to have a good conversation for my next holiday in France. I really liked it because you have a lot of vocabulary and different themes. For each small paragraph you have all the important vocabulary so you can take your time to learn. A noteworthy feature: the vocabulary recap allows me to test myself to see my progress.
I really enjoyed this book. I've taken French in high school, but didn't keep up with it. I still knew a lot of the basics, but was never able to go from there. This book was perfect to help me get back into the language. I even learned new words, phrases, among other things. I also love how you see the words or phrases multiple times to really reinforce what you're learning. The charts with phrases is also incredibly helpful. This book is great and I would recommend to anyone looking to brush up on their French.
I decided to buy this book because I wanted to improve my French pronunciation skills as I have a little difficulty with that. I really liked that this book has a story formatting making it easier to really follow along and continue being engaged. I also liked the audio part of this book making the lessons really comprehensible. As a bonus, the book has some really cool illustrations to guide my understanding as an intermediate French speaker.
Great for learners no matter their stage of study. I had purchased this eBook as a way to accelerate in my French learning. What I found great about this book is the reader can experience the stories in audio or text separately or use both to better their learning experience. In this eBook there are 15 short stories each story has two audio recordings. A slow version and a faster one. The slower one helps to pick up new and difficult words and phrases and helps to distinguish words as the faster audio is at a more native speaking speed. Each chapter in the eBook includes a glossary with translations of phrases in English. This helps in understanding more of what was being read. Fédéric, the author made used of the stories for the reader to have examples of everyday situations like Introducing and Describing yourself and Family, Numbers, Weekend Activities, Travel and more. He has created a useful tool to remember French grammar through learning with this eBook. A Bonus is the French learning package which comes for free with this buy it has support materials for learners of all levels. Altogether making this bundle a very effective tool for learning without the aid of a dictionary.
I'd rank my French level as intermediate, but this book was still a great way to make my commutes more meaningful and entertaining. You can learn a lot from it even if you don't give it your full attention and I think that makes it perfect for driving, cycling, short breaks etc. It was a great help for brushing up on what I learned in college.
Very nice selection of topics. The stories help to learn new words often used in everyday life through simple stories. I think it's a great way to master the language. I started speaking much easier already after a few stories. Audio tracks are really good too. Highly recommend to anyone who's starting to learn French.
