Excellent entertainment, as usual. I do have one question though: why cannot Ms Mayer tell her story in one well crafted book? Frankly, I am tired of "series" books that are serials - like installments not complete books. The Nix trilogy is basically one story, expanded and inflated with fight scenes, and broken into three "books". Not a custom I as a reader enjoy. Nora Roberts writing as J D Robb has one of the longest lasting series going, but each book is a story full and complete in depth. Only the characters move on to the next book. Ms Mayer has the talent and I think perhaps the skill, but she settles for the word count deemed suitable, not the old fashioned idea of what constitutes a novel. Pity.
