Good story, not well executed
Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2018
The basic story is pretty good if you like action, but the romantic conflict was annoying, with the characters REPEATEDLY (no, really, REPEATEDLY) angsting over the heroine's inability to deal with the hero's risky career. The writing also calls attention to itself in a bad way--lots and lots of obvious inconsistencies. In one place one of the villains is described as not particularly religious, and then later, his whole storyline depends on his willingness to die for Allah. In quite a few places, characters are told something, and then later told again as if they don't already know. I wish the other authors in this writing group had done some beta reading for each other, as a good editing would have brought this up to snuff easily. Worth the read if you've invested in the series, but be prepared to be frustrated and confused along the way.
