Used as a summer filler for my STEM school going 7 year old. I absolutely loved how most if not all experiments required not having to pick up pricey or odd materials that I wouldn't have on hand. We did one once a week and I really liked reading the "why" about explanations. A rare find and I would recommend it as a birthday gift!

The idea of the book is great. Some experiments are actually fun. Some are just ridiculous. There is one that has you use 6 dozen eggs. Who has that many eggs available? Another one has you use a mirror to redirect a laser. Sure, I don’t see anything that can go wrong there. Another one has you start a fire inside the house. It does recommend you ask for adult supervision. I would return the book but my daughter likes some of the experiments.
Since I bought it for my nephews who are not in the United States I really wish the books came with some of the materials because they were a pain to get and since they only require small amounts, it’s annoying to have to get a whole bag of eg. felt balls to do one simple experiment. I just can’t imagine how parents who are busy would have the time to go around and scout for materials to do most of these experiments
We have tried about 6-8 of the experiments so far, and only one of them has actually worked the way it was supposed to. Either better directions are needed or the science requires more precision than the book lets on. Either way, it has become more of a nuisance than excitement in our house due.
My kids and I were really excited to get this book to integrate more experiments into our homeschool days. However, it smells so horribly we can’t stand to open the book! So we haven’t done any experiments yet. Hoping it airs out by itself...not sure why it smells so terrible. I’ve ordered books off Amazon before and they have never stunk.
Flipping through it, it looks like it has a ton of fun ideas! The only problem is that it arrived with a couple bad folds in the cover. I personally wouldn't care that much but we bought it as a birthday gift for someone. It looks bad giving something you bought new but it looks used..
It has enough content for the child to learn however all detailed instructions Would have helped the child to capture and perform it herself. The concern only applies to some activity. Otherwise i would have rated it 5. Overall the book is helpful
