Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat Starter Piano!
Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2018
I've read some negative reviews on this bundle, but for the price and everything included in the bundle it's an awesome starter piano for kids. I'm a musician and own an Alesis MIDI controller along with plenty of high end gear for my home studio, and this bundle isn't on that level, nor is it meant to be. It's meant to be an all inclusive package that has everything included in the box to get kids up and running on the piano immediately. And that's exactly the case for the kiddos I made this purchase for! They were over the moon with it and so was I when I saw how excited and happy they were! Great price for this bundle.

It’s an okay piano. I’ll use it because I am just learning right now but it sounds strange. Like they took a normal piano and put a robot sound filter on it. The video is of it on normal piano. It’ll do but if you want a quality one I wouldn’t buy this one. This is a good deal for what you are getting though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good investment for beginners

I've never touched a keyboard or instrument. But this was easy to assembly and provides what I needed for a beginner.
Lots of options but I only needed the piano function.
Headphones and microphone we're on the cheap end and I don't really use.
If you are worried about being loud while practicing, any earphone with the standard jack will connect.
Note: invest in some tape, a sharpie, and a whiteboard for practice as well
Last photo is how to label your keyboard to practice (:

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for first time piano lessons
Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2018

My 8 year old started lessons this year , but her end goal is Electric guitar. The teacher always starts with piano so we didn't want to purchase an expensive instrument that will not be used for more than a couple of years. After reading the reviews and discussing with her teacher we ordered this set, it has been perfect for her practices between lessons. Even though the keys are not weighted they do have heavy feel that also give the long notes needed for some music sheets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price

Now, I have seen the negative reviews as they are the first thing that I turn to. I used to own an Alesis QS8 which was a full 88 keys and fully weighted hammer type keyboard. It was built like a tank and felt like it weighed as much at 55 pounds. Even though it was classified as portable you really needed to have two people to move to a gig. I got rid of it for that reason alone as lighter keyboards came out. It was still a great keyboard when I sold it.

This Alesis Melody 54 is nowhere near the QS8 but it serves the purpose that it was intended for. I have two other keyboards, a Yamaha Mod X7 and a Casio PX560. Both are decent in their own rights but are only middle of the road keyboard without the fully weighted hammer action. I bought the Melody 54 so that I could sit in front of the TV and if it was boring, I could practice fingering which is something that I lose if I don’t practice.

The Alesis sound may be light sounding compared to either of my other keyboards but it only has enough polophony notes to create basic sounds with no real timber whereas my Casio has 256 polophony notes which can make any note sound richer. The Alesis Melody 54 still doesn’t sound as tinny as the video suggested but it is nowhere near as good a quality as either my Yamaha or Casio.

Now, for the action, it has a synth action like my Yamaha but actually heavier, which means that you only have pressure and no little ‘kick’ feel to simulate a piano like my Casio. In case you are wondering why I have two keyboards is that it is easier to play organ and light sounding instruments like flute, trumpets, etc because of the smoother action on the Yamaha, plus I can have it set up and ready to go for certain songs. I am just a middle of the road musician and by no means promote any keyboard. I am just trying to set people straight on what to expect for a $70 keyboard.

Also, my Melody 54 keyboard came undamaged and worked perfect right out of the box.

If you want a decent hammer action keyboard, expect to pay a minimum of $2500 for something like a Kawaii MP11SE or a Korg. They have passed down some of their top of the line features to more basic models. I would be wary of pawn shop deals unless you have a friend that understands keyboards and pawnshops. Most people that I know or have known wouldn’t pawn a great instrument except as a last resort.

If you want a good practice keyboard for learning, I feel that this is a good choice. You can always move up to a higher quality if things take off. I suggest asking online stores as they are usually helpful and not pushy. If you are lucky enough to have a local music dealer, most of them are helpful as well. In fact, you may be able to get this locally at the same price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good practice keyboard-Great value

Got this for my boyfriend, the musician, to practice at home. It is a perfect size and has good sound. He is amazed by the feel of the weighted keys at this price point. It has several sound and rhythm options and a built in speaker. This would be good for a child or beginner as well as someone who just wants a set of keyboards for practice. It is not adequate for playing in church or a club. It came with a stand, stool, music rack, microphone and headphones and all electronic connections. The stool is sturdy, the mic and headphones are good for a child, ours went to Goodwill. It took about 15 minutes to put together and he was playing. It also came with an option for a trial period of free lessons. This was a great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!
Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2018

Keyboard was purchased for grandchildren's enjoyment. Surprisingly good quality and sound, although it would be nice if it powered up at low to moderate volume rather than full volume. Although it does not have weighted keys, the key feel and the array of sounds are very good for the cost, especially considering that the kit included the keyboard, seat, headphones, microphone (which is made for 3-4 year olds' use), and the keyboard stand (which is a bit too deep front to back for the keyboard). To accommodate my small grandchildrens' use, I shifted the seat guides outward and put a piece of thin plywood on the stand to allow the keyboard's rubber feet to sit securely on the stand. Nevertherless, it's an excellent value.

I’m learning piano as an experienced guitar player. This is a great 61 key piano suitable for adults. Easy assembly too as far as the chair and stand. Took me ten minutes including getting it out of the box (the hardest part). The keyboard itself feels of cheap plastic but the part that matters are the keys. Keys feel fine to the touch and the sound quality is great. Low enough for my apartment but loud if I want to be. The cheap accessories included actually work well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Keyboard to start out on

We got this for our Grandson. His Dad our Son plays multiple instruments. Our Grandson seems to have inherited his musical genes. He has spent hours learning and playing his keyboard. For the parents sake the headphones are a Godsend that came with it. We did end up having to replace the headphones as he accidentally sat on them.
It sounds decent and has multiple effects and settings. Great for those just starting out. I bet his mom can’t wait for him to graduate up to his first drum set…

The Keyboard was one of the best Christmas gifts I've purchased for my children from Amazon. Everyone of all ages sits to play the keyboard at least once a day. I made this purchase on December 2, 18, and it is STILL in perfect condition. The stool is very sturdy, and the sound is excellent. The headphone is also an ideal addition, especially during times (as a mom) I do not want to hear any noise in the house 😂.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beginners perfect keyboard
Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2021

My son loves this keyboard! It is easily mobile, the sound is adjustable, and there are setting to change the sound outputs. If you buy this for a super beginner, BUY A MUSIC BOOK. The directions are for set up only. There is no key identification in the booklet. The sound quality is better than a battery operated keyboard but is not pristine. It is perfect for someone figuring out their talents. I bout this for Christmas and now in April it still works well. My son carries it around the house and the sole function of a headphone outlet is a God send.
