I upgraded from the Amazon firestick, and there is a noticeable processing and loading speed increase with this bigger device, very user friendly. It helps you through each step of the process and even has Alexa built in, with a simple voice command you can check the weather, play a video or listen to music. The device is very sturdy and has a great design that fits almost any location it is used
We haven't had the product 24 hours and already the voice recognition stopped working! I'm calling out "Alexa" and NOTHING! It worked for a few hours last night as I was setting it up and now today...nothing! Do NOT buy this product! A waste of $99.00!
The good: The price is very good for a 4K device. The voice integration works well. The interface is clean and pretty easy to navigate once you get use to it.
The not so good: I've noticed more frequent pixalation then my AppleTV and Roku devices but the biggest issue I have is that apps load very slowly (at least compared to the other devices) and sometimes get hung up forcing you to go back to the home page and try again. Sometimes this needs to haven several times.
Overall: If you're on a budget, this is a passable device, but if you want best performance, buy the AppleTV.
Looks and acts brand new right out of the box. You would never know it is refurbished. The unit installed in just a few minutes and I am listening to the streaming jazz as I type. Integrated with my Hitachi flat screen TV and easy to add services like HBO and Netflix during setup. Very happy with the unit. The audio plays through the TV - so if you have a surround sound system on the TV, you get that feature through the Fire TV Cube as well. Pleasant bonus.
I don't know what's wrong with this thing, but it's hooked up to the TV, the TV is on and we click a button on the remote and - NOTHING. Nothing happens. No picture comes on the TV. But very strangely, after about 5 minutes the picture suddenly shows up!
Totally unusable. Except we found if we leave the TV Always On then this comes on the minute we press the button. But if we turn on the TV right before want to use it there's always a 5-10 minute wait from the time we first press a button on the remote until the time it actually comes on. Very strange. Returning it.
For some reason Cube drops the wifi all the time and we have to restart it multiple times. Alexa is very slow to response to changing the app, doesn't have an answer for most questions, and basically is mostly ineffective . Simply i prefer fire stick to Cube any day. The only positive is the remote control.
