To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I ordered one of this and after 10 days of wasting time with online support plus 2 replacement sticks and 2 replacement remotes they still can't figure out how to make it work. First was the stick not setting the right display resolution, now 2 remotes don't pair with the new stick....wont ever order anything that says "refurbished" from Amazon.
Arrived defective, The Fire Tv Dept department gave me an extremely hard time getting a replacement, it took 4 calls and a total of 1 hour and 30 mins of them mirroring the function of the firestick and resetting it before they decided I was not lying. By the way, I am a Prime member...didn't seem to mean much
Start by saying that I have 3 other 'sticks' and 1 other of the same model. I like them! So when Amazon offered a refirb for a great price I jumped. I had never had a problem with anything I had purchased ... So much for that record... Got the first one, the remote was OBVIOUSLY no good... The positive post was shoved back into the case so that the battery could never contact. After they sent me a new one over night (I do love customer service!) I spent a day and a half with a spotty WiFi on the stick (yes I am sure that it's the stick cuz I have a Dot sitting next to it that works perfectly) So, two days later another one arrives. After some coercion, I get it up and running,.. but I gotta tell you, it is not as solid as my other units. To confirm, I moved it to the other locations in the house... Lo and behold, same issues and my other units operated as before.
I bought two Fire TV sticks for our TVs, to replace the UI which came with the TV by default, because that default UI was so filled with ads it was annoying. The Fire TV sticks worked great for us for some time. But just this week, Amazon rolled out a UI updates which is as annoyingly focused on ads as the TV UI was. It sucks. The apps we want to use (Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video) should be front and center. Instead >80%+ of the screen real estate is now used up with ads for things Amazon wants me to buy. I'm now looking around for a no-ads TV UI, just as how I choose to subscribe only to no-ads content services. I don't want to be the product sold. I prefer to be the customer.
I got the FireTV stick not quite one year ago. I must say that I enjoy the software setup and the variety of apps it provides. However, I rarely get to enjoy the apps, since after some updates to the Fire stick and the apps, the systems keeps freezing and rebooting constantly. It helps to unplug it for few minutes and plug it back in. Since it's positioned behind my wall mounted TV it's rather inconvenient. I don't have any of those issues with my wife's Apple TV or my Chromecasts.
When the refurbished fire stick arrived, it would not work at all. After an hour on the phone with Amazon tech support, we finally got it working. However, over the next few weeks of use, it continued to have many glitches. Volume and on/off would not work with Alexa remote, had to use tv remote. But the worst issue was that it would constantly just shut off during streaming for no reason. I have a new fire stick on another tv, and while the refurb one was busy shutting down all the time, the new one was running, no prob..so it isn't my internet. I finally gave up and sent it back. Clearly from other reviewers, refurb is not a great idea for these. I am giving 2 stars rather than 1, because I would give Amazon tech support and ease of return for Prime members 5 stars. The refurbished fire stick gets -0.
I mistakenly bought this Fire TV Stick after seeing the "supports Bluetooth 4.1" claim; it technically does send audio to your bluetooth device, but since there is no way to control the volume of the audio signal sent over bluetooth, it is worthless to use with powered speakers with a bluetooth receiver. I'll give mine away to someone who only has a tv to control.
It worked well for about 3 months than I had to keep it plugged into an outlet for it to work and now About 8 months later I can’t get through an episode without it shutting off. Idk if that’s normal and these typically only last for a year but I personally think that’s just not long enough It’s only used maybe one day a week on my day off
I bought this Fire Stick, thinking that, "Surely, the company would test to make sure it functions correctly." It delays moving when you try to scroll across selections. You have to wait till the cursor stops, way after you have stopped. The voice command is useless. It seems to have a delay as well. 5 to 8 seconds will go by after you have voiced a command before "Alexa," responds. Lesson learned.
Refurbished one here did so bad I sent it back. It would drop out and would not connect to my WiFi. I bought a new 4K one and it perfect like to other that I have with no issues. You may get one that works ok but mine did not.
I got this remote didn't work or so I thought called got a new remote control replacement it worked then stopped guess it wasn't the remote control but the Fire Stick it self now back to regular TV can't afford to buy another one.
