I ordered one of this and after 10 days of wasting time with online support plus 2 replacement sticks and 2 replacement remotes they still can't figure out how to make it work. First was the stick not setting the right display resolution, now 2 remotes don't pair with the new stick....wont ever order anything that says "refurbished" from Amazon.
I love that it provides all that it provides. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon video and so much more. I only had a problem with the power needed to the Fire Stick, but my tv didn't output enough power, so I plug it into the wall and the power plug provide didn't work either so had to use an extra one that I had laying around and it works, but other than that it is an excellent product!
This item arrived on time and was very easy to install for use on the TV. The instructions are pretty sparse but to be fair there isn't much to do other than insert the stick into the proper slot and make sure the power supply cable is set. The only real downside is the power cable is almost too short. Another foot or so would be nice depending on where the slot is on your TV vs the power plug location. An extension cord may be needed.
Set up is pretty intuitive and the onscreen prompts easy to follow. I would like the documentation to let you know which services require additional subscriptions to use. As it is you have to activate them to find out. I did get the CBS all access for the Star Trek Discovery show and we are enjoying catching up on the 2 seasons.
I replaced an early model Roku streaming device with this Fire device. The device is easy and foolproof to set up and use. The remote is simple but very effective. My only "con" is that the Fire user interface is a little confusing. The one thing that saves it is the voice actuation Using voice the menu maze can be bypassed and you can go quickly to the content of your choice. Trying to anticipate or outsmart the visual interface ... well, good luck. But the thing works so well, I am pleased with the purchase. The Prime Video service is outstanding. The device has every feature I need.
Was a little iffy to buy a refurbished one since this was my first fire stick I've purchased. I just set it up & everything is working great. Only giving 4 stars because when I first unboxed & set everything up I could not for the life of me get the remote to turn on. I honestly thought I was going to have to return it for the remote not working. After searching through Google for about 20 minutes I found an article saying once you put the batteries in hold down the home button. Held it down for about 30 seconds & it finally worked. So, so far so good. Will update if anything goes wrong.
Was skeptical it would work well since it’s refurbished. Bought this to stream DirectTV Now on my tv. It connected to my wi-fi without any problems. When I opened the DirectTV Now app, the content was slow to load. Once I added the extension piece that boosts the wi-fi signal, it worked perfectly. So far, so good. If you want to save a few bucks, go with this refurbished option.
We have loved all 4 of the firesticks we have purchased so far. Our dog broke the last one however - our fault for leaving the cords down... We decided to try out the refurbished this time. I had to make a call... Initially I could not get the remote to communicate. To save any of you having that same issue - I was instructed to hold down the home (little house) button for a few seconds - you will see the light flashing, then I could select the play/pause button as instructed on the screen to move forward in the installation process. All worked great after that. Hope this helps
because we live in an area where there is little to no service from cable or other viewing options and and we could only get amazon and netflix[which didn't connect 60%of the time]was pleased to find out that possibly fitestix would work so got it and one of my kids hooked it up sure enough works well even the netflix is more functional still learning how to operate it efficiently and weeding out the channels, do need to be careful not to rent or buy by mistake or sign up for to many of the channels that cost extra . But so far we are really pleased we can even get some local stations and news programs which we haven't be able to receive since everything went digital
For some weird reason I had a heck of a time getting it setup. First the remote would not work with it then I had issues with the wireless. Just when I was ready to put it back into the box and send it back both problems went away. It may have needed an update and after received started working correctly. I have had it for almost 3 months now with no real issues and I use it a lot. Good purchase
Am I the only person that feels as if the power cord is too short..? I replaced my old Roku with this device and the 4ft cord would not reach any nearby outlet. However, I did remove the power supply and 6ft cord from my old Roku and everything seems to be working fine. I'm still pissed at Amazon for throttling my broadband to extort me into buying their *new* Firestick to view my Amazon Prime Video that I'm already paying 119.00 yearly as a user.
It's an incredibly useful tool for finding whatever you want. Pretty amazing.I was disappointed with Amazon's decision to stop offering HBO GO as part of the package. I bought it with the understanding that HBOGO was standard with the FireStick. No apologies and no explanation either. One day you have it, the next day you don't. Complaint? Go find someone who cares. Even given that, it's a well thought out, user friendly tool.
