Cute little computer for my odd set up.
To date I had antiquated iBike Powerdash or whatever it is called enclosure for iPhone3. The enclosure is equipped with wind sensor and tilt sensor and with iPhone software it was a full logging and power metering system but it kind of broke apart on me last week.
In addition to above, I am running Garmin Vivioactive3 watch for my ride recordings and HR monitoring. The bike is equipped with some vanilla Ant+ speed+cadence sensor. The watch is set to broadcast HR over Ant+ protocol for any computer to display. The iBike was able to consume HR signal and display it.
I decided to settle on this simple computer which will be used for display purposes only so I know my speed and cadence as well as current HR.
The unit is very compact with characters just big enough to be perfectly visible and readable once hunched over the bike. It was able to pair with speed+ant sensor as well as the Garmin HR signal and display them accurately without any drop outs.
Mount options are good. It comes with a base for mounting on stem or with a projection bracket for installation on handlebars. I have aero bars and really short stem so neither one worked out of the box. I had to resort to installing a additional plastic nub/mount point on aero bars (nub with integrated zip tie attaches to side of aero bar, it has the same diameter as handlebars, and it pretends to be a part of handlebar allowing standard accessories like lights, computer etc to be attached reliably to aero bars) and attach the longer mount to it. It works well this way.
If I ever decide to add legit power meter to my set up, this unit should be able to display is as well.
During my few hour ride I was not able to even make a dent in the battery charge level. In that respect it is a large improvement for me from a set up that required constant charging and would not last more than 1.5h when riding before losing the iPhone display.
Overall I like this unit.
