Wonderful stand alone story in the Mob Tracker series.

What a great read! Mimi Barbour has outdone herself with this sweet novella. Although a part of the Mob Tracker series, this book can be read as a stand alone also. A very powerful story about a prostitute turned nanny and the single father that hired her to care for his newborn baby.

I have only read Hide My Heart by Rachelle Ayala but, if the other books are anything like Ms. Ayala’s then you can’t go wrong one-clicking this set!

A good young adult romantic suspense! I enjoyed the sweet romance between Nate and Amber and the suspense was exciting. There were some parts of the story that kind of made me cringe but all in all it was interesting.

The intense longing for love and the freedom to spread your wings is inherent in each of us. We all need to be loved for who we are and allowed the ability to pursue what we love. Otherwise our world will become a dull, lackluster version of what it should be. Our heart needs the room to dream and our minds need the stimulation to grow. Amber is a beautiful character who portrays the heart of so many people. She is an example of one of those who are beaten down by life and feel that they have no way out. The problem comes when others who feel they are no better off than she fail to offer a helping hand. They walk away thinking that someone else will help when then that may not ever be the case. What if we are their only hope to rise above the circumstances the find themselves in? Can you walk away not knowing if another soul will ever reach out and take their hand? I would hope that all of us would be like Nate Riley and risk what we can to bring life and light to a hurting soul. Even a small act of kindness can revive a lost and broken heart.

Rachelle Ayala never fails to surprise and delight my heart with her versatile and fierce talent. I have never walked away from one of her books the least bit disappointed or let down. This story wound its way around my heart and brought tears to my eyes as I felt the deep pain, piercing sorrow, and gnawing disappointment that Amber had to walk through. Life sometimes leads us through dark and bitter times before it brings us to the incredible gift waiting for us that we could only appreciate after knowing what it was like to live without it. This was the journey that Amber and most of us find waiting for us along the way. Only by walking through the darkness can we truly appreciate the light.

Peaceful Slumber by Nikki Lynn Barrett

Scott Henderson died but was revived by doctors and since then he can see ghosts. He generally doesn't pat attention to them but when he is drawn to a ghost in a wedding dress he has no idea how much his life is about to change.

Zelda is nicknamed "Ghost bride" by Scott as she has no memories of her name or anything to do with her previous life. Yet she discovers that she also seems to be in an "in-between" state as she could possible be in a coma as she is hearing voices as well.

As Scott and Zelda work together to figure out who she is will they get more than they bargain for? Is there a reason that no one has reported her missing?

This was a great story involving trying to discover someone's identity with absolutely nothing to go on. There were so many times that you felt like Scott and Zelda were getting close only to discover it was a false lead.

There was so much suspicion on certain characters and you weren't sure with the twists and turns what was coming next! There was definitely so much suspense in the book.

There was so much chemistry between Scott and Zelda and it must have been so hard no knowing if Zelda was in a relationship or not, considering she was initially wearing a wedding dress. The two cared about each other so much but were so afraid of getting attached and having to say goodbye.

The ending completely shocked me and I wasn't prepared for everything that was revealed!

Hide My Heart by Rachelle Ayala

Amber McKay is a single mom to 3 month old Beck and is on the run from her abusive ex-boyfriend Hunter Dixon. She managed to escape from him and headed to California but has come back to hometown when her grandmother became ill.

Nate Riley and his mom run a local hotel and tavern and was very close with Amber before she left town. When she asks his for help hiding her and Beck he agrees but finds himself in farther than he ever thought possible.

When an ice storm traps them will Nate be able to keep Amber safe from Hunter and will their budding romance survive it all?

This was a great suspenseful book with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged.

I felt so bad for Amber in that she was completely trapped by Hunter and she knew how dangerous he was. She managed to escape to California but knew she risked so much coming home to her Grandma but she felt she had no other choice.

Nate was such a great guy and you could tell right from the beginning how much he cared about Amber. I thought it was funny how the lies regarding Beck kept popping out of his mouth until he was so in over his head with his mom.

Hunter was just psycho and definitely not the kind of guy you want to find yourself around. He was relentless in his pursuit of Amber and I knew he would not give up. I knew he was smart as well and that not much would get by him which was how he could find Amber and Nate.

The ending had me worried but I loved how it all worked out!

She repeatedly tries to escape without any luck and the punishments are ruthless. The cartel leader uses everything in his arsenal to break her spirit, but she refuses to submit. In her eyes, all that matters is freeing the other captured women. Time is running out as the cartel is about to sell Maggie and the others to the highest bidder. It’s now or never for Maggie and the other women. They must swallow their fears and escape then wait for help. Will Maggie succeed, or will she die fighting for her life and the lives of the other women?

I’ve read every book in the Wounded Hearts series and have loved each book. This one, however, chilled me to the bone. Jacquie Biggar takes the reader deep into the world of human trafficking. She doesn’t hold anything back and as a woman, I can’t imagine anything worse than being taken and sold to the highest bidder. My whole body trembled as I became one with Maggie.

Plenty of action and realistic conflict makes Maggie’s Revenge a thrill a minute adventure. It reads like an action film which was fun. While this is the sixth book in the Wounded Hearts series, it’s a standalone. After you finish this one, go back and read the other books in the series. Trust me, you’ll love them all.

If you’re looking for a strong heroine in an untenable situation where lives are traded like currency, pick up this book today! Highly recommend!

Favorite Character/Quote: Maggie. Never have a read such a strong-willed heroine thrust in a dangerous, fearful predicament where all she thinks about is saving others. An incredibly inspiring woman and a joy to read.
