The World building in this story is unbelievable. You have empaths and vampires and wars and betrayal. And then you have love. Love between a vampire and an empath. There’s also Venice and how you feel like you’re almost there when you read this book. Took my breath away...
An illustrious tale of love and revenge. The previews for this book do not due it justice. Intrigue and a glimpse of Beautiful and Romantic Venice. Alexis and Flavia will create a new breed of characters for more great books to come.
This is a great story with everything. Taboo relationship, secret baby, good versus evil, vampires and empaths.
Alexis is a member of the empath high council. He’s been searching for and stopping evil for a long time as a spy. Flavia is a vampire who is blind. She knows the cause of her blindness is refusing to face her past. She is also pregnant.
Relationships between vamps and empaths are forbidden but these two are irresistibly drawn to each other and only by working together will they defeat an old evil.
Great story. Flavia and Alexis have sparks, true love and neither believes s/he is good enough for the other.
An ancient evil has returned to Venice and Alexis is caught up in revenge and justice, he’d not sure which. Flavia wants justice until the life of someone special to her is threatened.
The story moves along at a fast pace with loveable characters and a supporting cast of old friends from the Warriors Council series. If you haven’t read the previous series, this book does stand alone but you’ll appreciate the backstory of the previous series.
What I liked? Pretty much everything. There were no “stupid” moments and the pace was speedy but detailed enough to follow. Highly recommended (and if you haven’t read Warriors Council series yet, you’ll want to read that too since all their friends have already found their HEA). (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Somewhere along the line I reviewed Berlin Nocturne and was so impressed with it I made contact with Miranda Jameson. I must have begged to be able to Advance Review her next because I found this story on my ARC TBR list. Happy Happy Joy Joy!
What can I say, Miranda Jameson has done it again, written a stellar story in a well built world. Alex, an Empath, is on a life's mission of vengeance, thrown back together again with Flavia, a Vampire woman who is a whole lot more that she is perceived to be. Together they conclude a too long in coming search for an Empath guilty of crimes against his kind. Along the way a whole lot of other truths come to the fore.
Miranda Jameson writes with a sensitivity one does not see too often. I'd liken her voice and world to J.R. Ward and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. The feels are that good. I gotta get books one through three of the Warrior's Council Trilogy, these are books I want on my shelf. Five stars and two thumbs up, they're THAT good.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this awesome paranormal romance. The action and suspense kept me glued to the story—turning the pages to find out what would happen next. The angst between Alexis and Flavia was heartbreaking…and as I read along, I kept wondering what it would take for them to come to their senses!! I thoroughly enjoyed the world building in the story and loved the setting and the plot line. The surprises in the plot line were totally unexpected and I look forward to the next book in this awesome series. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I pretty much knew I was going to like this story. Broken, tormented souls, vampires, empaths, forbidden. I love romance, but I want a good story to give it wings. This is a really good story. I'm looking forward to book 2. I'm voluntarily reviewing a free copy of this book.
