A Hunt Like No Other

One Dinosaur One Bullet has a fun premise and is an engaging read from start to finish. The upper management of W&W Investments goes on a safari like no other, and when things go south, they will have to come together to survive in the prehistoric past. These characters are compelling, and the interpersonal dynamics at play here are a neat addition to this story. But what I really liked was the kind of “Schroedinger’s Dinosaur” that is at play in this story:
“The animal’s death had become a cruel cosmic joke—like a demented god playing a game where an innocent creature had become a martyr forced to die again and again.”
The setup is kind of like a giant déjà vu that the company exploits for hunting purposes, but when some things in that moment start seeming off, the adventure throttled forward. I really liked that aspect of the book, and I think you will, too.

This was quite disappointing. The concept of hunting safaris from the future going way back in time to hunt dinosaurs, was intriguing. However, the characters were very cardboard and simplistic and had no character that you could connect with. If I did not know better, I would think this was written by a 16 year old. I did finish it, which gives it the 3.

One Dinosaur, One Bullet is a pretty good story with a fresh version of this over used theme. A hunting safari time travel company takes visitors back in time and yes, nothing goes as planned, but I like this story. I have read a dozen stories like this because I love dinosaurs, but not hunting, and I think it would be cool to go back and see them...or not! This is the story of the 'not'!

I liked the story a lot. It was exactly what I wanted. But, it ended almost half way through the book! The rest of the page count was filled with preview chapters of two different books. I could not believe it! I still can't ! If the book had been all one novel I would have given it 5 stars. As it is, this was not quite the book I thought I bought.

When I started this book, I thought it was just going to be a straight forward going back in time to hunt dinosaurs. Then things started going wrong and suddenly the whole thing took a turn toward conspiracy. I don't want to say just what happens but it is one of those didn't see that coming moments. The dinosaurs are good at being dinosaurs. The people in the story are interesting enough to want to see what happens to them. I would say this is a story to sit down and read on a rainy afternoon for the fun to be found in it.

I was in the mood for a good dinosaur book when I came across this title. Being a fan of both “A Sound of Thunder” and “Gun for Dinosaur”, and having read the reviews of this book, I decided to buy it and read a little of it before bed. Ended up reading the whole thing through, unable to put it down! Certainly full of some unexpected twists and turns! If you want some good entertainment but don’t feel like reading a full on 400-page novel, this is a great choice!

But dinosaurs can't be predicted to behave as though they are expected. That deviation of time resulted in the deaths of all but one survivor from the six members of the hunting party.

Really enjoyed this one. Even the named "One Dinosaur One Bullet" has a catchy ring to it and solid branding. This was a short read, but an intense one at that. Something that I often wonder is why SyFy Channel doesn't adapt something like this into a made for tv movie. This book could easily give Sharknado a run for its money. Just saying. Well done and well worth your time.
