Everyone has a Bruce in the family.

I bought this book based on the title. (My husband’s name is Bruce.)
It’s hilarious. I am buying another copy immediately to send to our grandchildren.
My husband has a near pathological problem with visitors in our home. Family. Friends. Doesn’t matter. His home is his castle and he prefers to be alone. This has been a bone of contention throughout our marriage. We have a large home and can easily entertain overnight guests. I imagined a home where people could drop by unannounced or by invitation and by made to feel welcome and loved. A retreat. A “hotel” of sorts. Nope. My husband has gone so far as to clap his hands loudly and announce that “THE PARTY IS OVER!” or walk by a gathering of my book club friends and markedly point at his wristwatch. It’s laughable and embarrassing.
I got the book yesterday and skimmed through it reading out loud to Bruce. Laughing, I joked that I’d written in. For a half second, he believed me. Even he found the humor in it. My Bruce. My Eeyore.
