Okay. So. Let’s get one thing straight. I’m a real mom. With real children. I paid real money for this, I’m not being reimbursed, and I have high expectations when it comes to my children’s safety.

My $10 safety gate failed the moment my little boy learned how to climb over it! I decided it was time to really get down to business with making my home safe for my babe when he started the stove and burned a pan of food that was cooling off after dinner.

Not only am I 10000% impressed that such an affordable product WORKED, but I’m pleased with the fact that they look good on my stove! Baby proofing doesn’t have to be ugly. Shoutout to the seller for including 5 covers instead of 4. I have a 5th knob for my oven, and some people even have a 5th burner.

Overall, just buy it. Stop looking and comparing. This is the one you need.

Identical to Safety First knobs, except harder plastic and no rubberized button

Based on positive reviews and the item description, I was eager to try this cover as an alternative to the Safety First knob covers, thinking that they would be slightly larger. They are not. They are identical to the Safety First covers, but (in my opinion) made of inferior plastic (the hard kind that feels like it might shatter on impact), and they do not have the rubberized grip on the open/close button mechanism or around the seal. Also, at the time I purchased, these were almost 40 percent more expensive than the Safety First covers. I’m sure they work for many applications, but it’s unclear to me why anyone would choose to pay more for an inferior quality product.

Size of the knob covers prevents oven from opening

We installed these on our gas stove because our 1 year old thinks it’s funny to play with the knobs on the gas stovetop. We have caught him turning the knobs past ignite, so the gas just comes out (filling up the house, if allowed to). So we felt like we had to do something because he’s fast and it’s something we could easily miss. These shipped immediately, arrived undamaged, and were as-pictured.

I should have measured the knobs on our stove and compared the dimensions. While these knob covers do their job, they make it very difficult to open the oven part of the stove. The door opens downward, and the 4 knobs block/catch the door whenever I’m opening it or closing it. It is very difficult to open with these things on it. I guess that’s the price we pay for the security of knowing that our 1 year old won’t mess with the gas stovetop and unwittingly blow up our house.

Aside from the sizing of these knob protectors, the sellers of this item are review-beggars. I understand Amazon’s ranking algorithm is ultimately encouraging this bad behavior, but the sellers will email you pestering you to review the product. Here’s my review, please leave me alone now.

Not just for childproofing

We love our gas range. We also love our house, cats, dogs, and all that good stuff. We also happen to have a person with reduced mobility and no sense of smell in the house. He bumped into the stove on the weekend, turning on the gas. We caught it quickly this time, but figured better safe than sorry.

The knobs on my range are deeper than many other knob covers, which is why I picked this particular set of covers, and they're perfect. They open easily enough to not be an inconvenience, and don't obstruct my oven door. That said, they are large. Check your knobs and their placement on your appliance to make sure they'll work for you. If they don't, it's hardly a failure of the product, it's just a compatibility issue. Personally, I think they're great.

So far, so good! Solved the problem. My in-laws who are elderly would always lean against the stove top, (short like me), to use microwave or clean stove and press against the knob and turn on burner unknowingly and house would smell of gas! My youngest is 7 and she has creative ideas too. This solved the problem. It’s a reminder to everyone plus it’s safe guarding the gas stove knobs from turning and releasing gas. It looks nice too! Very easy to install and the release mechanism is easy enough to understand. Great for toddlers and small ones, I love it!

Don't have any kids, but we just recently installed a gas stove (had electric). I was concerned about our house blowing up from someone accidently bumping the knobs and turning the gas on...and I was right! (not about it blowing up). My 88 year old mother in law lives with us, and walks hunched over, walked by the stove and her big butt hit one of the knobs and turned the gas on without lighting the burner. She didn't even know it. (she farts a lot so probably just assumed the gas smell was her own). Happened twice, so that's when I decided to buy these things, much cheaper than blowing the house to smithereens. They go on easy enough, not that difficult to use, and so far no accidental knob turning. I can't really say how durable they are yet , that remains to be seen. Can't really rate the "stretch" factor as these aren't really the kinds of things that one would stretch.

We have a 40-year-old commercial Wolf range. The knobs are very difficult to pull off, making installation of these knob covers doable, but not exactly easy. Once on, the configuration of the stove front -- it flares 45° just under the knobs -- means if you replace the knobs securely -- that is, push them all the way back on -- they are so tight and the knobs are so close together that one can still turn the knobs inside by turning the covers. The solution is to replace the knobs somewhat loosely. Then they serve their intended purpose. As for durability, we haven't really used them yet, so cannot offer an opinion on that. These are not for child-proofing, but for cat-proofing. At the end of the day, I think these will work.

First, thank you for the pack of FIVE (as we have 5 burners). Children have not been able to outsmart these in the week or so hat we’ve had them (unlike doorknob covers, le sigh), but I find them easy enough to quickly flip open and closed with one hand myself. Was scared they would melt with the heat of the gas flames and burners in close proximity (our knobs are on top of the stove, right in the middle of all the burners), but they’ve not shown any signs of that yet- even after being exposed to “high” heat many times over the past week. Make sure when you open these, you turn the cover AWAY from the burner (caught husband just in the nick of time). Lastly, these are quite attractive and food splashes clean up pretty easily.

Okay so I have standard size crappy apartment stove knobs (brand is specifically danby).. and cats that like to try to burn the house down via the stove while I'm off at work/school... these were definitely too small. I sort of made it work because they were only a little small.. but I did so by banging the knobs gently into the cover with a hammer. I'd definitely be sending back and buying a different brand if it weren't an emergent case of needing the covers now. They say they are supposed to fit standard sized knobs but they most certainly do not. "large universal design" my left leg, more like small with too thick plastic design.

I needed these because our cats have inadvertently turned on the stove twice, once with open flame and the other with just the gas, filling the house with gas. They were easy to put on which was the only thing I could rate 5 stars on. Adhesion, no because they didn't actual stick to the stove or stop the knobs from being pulled off. And Easy to Use is a no, 1 star. This is not universal for all stoves because if you don't have a gas stove where the knobs fit tight to the surface, they are hard to pop open without pulling off the knob entirely every single time you need to use the stove. They also dropped down to where I couldn't open my oven door without pulling all of them off, same with closing the oven door. If your knobs are not tight to the surface behind them, I would not recommend this item for you. It's a hassle more than a help.
