Excellent Quality and the Best Value On the Market in a Portable Blu-ray Player
Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2018
I'm an electronics seller for many devices including tablets, portable DVD players, mobile DVD players, laptops, and dozens of others. I can easily say that this Sylvania Portable Blu-ray Player is one the finest most high end products I have ever owned. The build quality is excellent. Very sturdy with a hefty solid feel to it, not like nearly every other portable DVD player I've ever seen. In fact, the entire unit emanates quality from the extra smooth working mechanisms to the gorgeous HD display. This unit was really built right, by far the best Sylvania product I've ever encountered. Now some people might say What? Only 720p? But many people are not aware that on any display screen 19" or smaller the human eye cannot detect the difference between 720p and 1080p. This is because the pixels are too small and condensed to see any difference. On very large screens the difference is apparent because the pixels are much bigger and more space in between each one. So don't think you're getting an inferior picture with the 720p because you're not. Other portable Blu-ray players that boast 1080p only say that because it sounds better, like what you should be getting with a Blu-ray player. The big 14" display on this unit is just stunning, so much better than a 10". The remote is full function meaning it controls every adjustable feature on the unit, except on & off, which is true for a lot of remotes for some reason. There are many picture adjustments so you can get the exact quality display you prefer. As with a lot of the better Portable DVD Players these days this unit also plays movies, videos, etc. from an SD card or a USB flash drive. For me that feature is a must have as it allows you to download free movies from the internet from your PC at home onto a USB flash drive or SD card and watch them any time anywhere at your leisure on the DVD player. This feature can save you a bundle from buying DVDs. Especially if you have kids watching a lot of content. Kids don't care about high resolution. Another plus is the Audio/Video In port that allows you to connect many other devices on a standard 3.5mm cable. It even comes with a set of RCA jack cables that connect to many devices such as some game consoles allowing the kids to play video games in the car on those long trips. It comes with a wall charger and a car adapter. But the rechargeable battery lasts about 5 hours on a full charge. I've seen many other Portable Blu-ray Players with only a 10" display selling for $250, so for $200-$250 this excellent Sylvania unit is by far a much better value, the best I've seen. It has stereo speakers that are decent, but for the best movie experience you should use external speakers in the headphone jack, or good headphones. The soda can in the photo is for size comparison so you can get an idea of how big the screen actually is.
