How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

2.0 out of 5 starsOne book is enough
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 14, 2022
Warning: this is a cliffhanger!
The idea of sending androids out into space to look for a planet to colonize is interesting.
However, an Android who approaches other worlds and the inhabitants with sarcasm and disrespect is not funny. I found him very annoying.
The AI in the shop was funny but on such a mission would be dangerous.
Then the whole purpose of the mission got lost in what appears to be an intergalactic war.
I found myself skipping pages and pages of disputes between the android, his alien GF, and the AI.
This book might be ok for a young adult. Big maybe.
I won't buy book two.

5.0 out of 5 stars A snarky AI and an android walk into a bar

Okay. There's no bar, just a small scout ship and the vastness of interstellar space. Earth is about to be cue balled by Jupiter and these two might just be the saviors of the human race. Nice read.

I really enjoyed the Forever Life book. I demolished it in one day. The humor between Jon and Al was sharp, witty and made the book more enjoyable for me. I came across a few issues. The story in chapter 14 threw me off to the point that I asked Craig to shed some light. He stated ,“Hey there! The part about the original Jon Ryan meeting Indigo?” Then the Epilog telling of Jon's death and family. Here’s my understanding. When Jon was uploaded into the android bio mind, in the Prelude, Jon Awakes and noticed the empty chair, that his physical body was in. I was under the impression that Jon’s physical body was lost dead, FUBAR. I derived at that conclusion from John Scalzi Old Man's War. Finally, the story, witty one liners and the beautiful relationship of the crew was the cream from me. I only ask that Craig Robertson would try not confuse his readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars How human can an android be?
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 14, 2019

A violent collision occurs on Jupiter, radically affecting its orbit. In about one hundred years, it will destroy Earth; a new home for humans must be found. Since we're talking light years to possible new planets, taking many years to explore, human astronauts are not a good choice. Jon Ryan has his being transferred into an android who looks and thinks exactly like him, does not need provisions, and can remain "alive" for hundreds of years or more.

I enjoyed reading this book. It has interesting adventures, a sassy A.I. ship controller, lots of humor, and a couple of aliens who become part of the crew. It's exciting enough to encourage you to move on to the next book in the series.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves sci-fi. This is a great story that even has some bearing on today's political calamities. Please read this and apply it to our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than best!

The very concept of downloading a human consciousness into an exact duplicate android is intriguing enough, but that’s only the beginning.
One thing I particularly liked was the fast pace. Ten years pass in a sentence so what happens is left to the reader’s imagination and moves to the next real adventure. No long tedious explanations of stuff way above my pay grade!
And it’s funny! The exchanges between Jon and Al the ship’s AI are priceless and only get better when two more sentient beings are added to the mix.
One more thing: Did the author get a big boost from “Gulliver’s Travels?” Some of the planetary visits seemed awfully familiar. Good show!
Can’t wait to read the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing hard Sufi space opera

The main character development was better than most space operas. The science in orbital disruption is plausible and no Faster Than Light travel - yet. Good science but time travel slips in. Not a fan of time travel paradox to help a plot. I just have not been able to get my brain around traveling backwards (as we perceive it) in time.

Forward time travel due to traveling a large percentage of the speed of light, yes. In reverse direction just does not seem plausible.

Although sometimes confusing, the book was funny enough and snarky enough to keep my interest. The ship’s computer added to the fun! If it weren’t for a review by MisterPleasentBooks on YouTube I would never have heard of this book.
