Rustic

A little disjointed, but looks like a good start to the series.

This story seemed a little disjointed. The story seemed to come to a natural finish more than once. I don't know if this was expanded from a shorter story, but that it felt like it may have been. It seems like an interesting start for the series though, and I am looking forward to reading the next book. There seem to be quite a few very interesting characters aboard the ship and I am looking forward to seeing their characters be more defined. Hopefully, the following books in the series will have a better sense of flow as well as continuing to have some really hot love scenes. I will also be happy to see the continued HEA of these characters as well.

Interesting series with a world build that has so much potential

I found this aliens-in-space novella series entertaining & a fast read. There's a rich world build & excellent secondary characters that really have you looking forward to the next one in the series. So far the series hasn't delivered on the rich world build. The novellas have little drama & few action scenes. However, the guys aren't hating on the females & their characters are appealing. The heroines follow Dohner's pattern of helpless damsel-in-distress who end up jobless. That gets old if you read her stories one after the other.

Of course the exception is Dovis' Mari - a member of the crew. My favorite has been York - there was more drama and more action scenes. The 4th in the series (Raff) also has some interesting but limited escape scenarios. But that's pretty much the extent of the adventure. That one started out promising with the heroine knife-fighting but she quickly morphed into damsel in distress.

Still these were quick & entertaining reads & I'm looking forward to the 5th.

I’ve read Ms Dohner’s other series books; VLG series, and New Species series. I loved both of them. Of course, I was sad when she stopped writing the New Species books because I thought she had still some characters from the stories that I wanted to see have their own story. So when the VLG series started, I read the synopses for the first book and read it and got hooked. Then I was happy to see a New Species book come out. Then I saw this series and I just new I was going to love it just as much as the others and I was right. Just make sure you have a fan and glass of ice water for the “Steamy” sex scenes, and you will find yourself laughing at times (sometimes out loud). You will just have to read it to find out for yourself. Happy reading!

Everybody has their own opinion. There was more sexual interaction in this one. But don't let that sway a new reader. The other characters have a little more to their stories in this short series. I've read them all, and enjoy them. I like that this series is short and not dragged out, by unnecessary waist of a hundred pages. These stories get to the point, and I like that.
These actually tell a decent story, and they made me laugh. This is my honest opinion. I gobbled them up in a short a mount of time. I'm preying Marrow gets her story. I don't know if she will though.

A very cute but still hot romance. It has aliens but they are humanoid and pretty tame all things considered. I could have seen this story expanded out to be longer ( I wouldn't have complained) but it wasn't and it was still very good regardless. I'm just greedy when it comes to a good, interesting story and characters. I can't wait to read stories about the rest of the crew and hopefully we'll get glances of Cathian & Nara in the future. It ended with a HEA type ending; it was short, sweet (but also hot) and to the point - would recommend.

I really enjoyed reading this series, and I'm looking forward to reading future installments. This series has a lot of potential if the author decides to dedicate more time to the substance of each story. The main scenes tend to be action packed, and very interesting, but really short. While the love scenes (although they're very well done) are long, drawn out, and take up a good amount of the story's content. Even though this series lacks the intensity of the New Species series (which I hope this author will someday continue), this series has great potential. Opportunity is knocking with this series, and I hope the author rises to the challenge. As a confessed read-a-holic, there are certain Authors that have my loyalty (Laurann Dohner bring one of my favorites), and I will purchase their books religiously. I love reading whatever books Ms. Dohner writes, she is extremely talented, and gifted.

I think it should've been 99 cents for how short it was. Always love the Laurann Dohner's books I purchase. Usually I just stick with Cyborgs and Species since she doesn't do KU, so unsure how the other series of hers are written. I thought Cathian might be more like Species meets Cyborgs. Nope, all it involved was sex, sex and more sex. Not any real plot/story. Not that I'm complaining about that, she knows how to write a good sex scene. Just wanted to warn any of her fans who are looking for plot like the other books, it's missing LOL!
