This is a story of two women, Sarah a teenager and Faith, a woman in her late thirties. For various reasons of self-preservation, they meet and go on a journey to find Sarah's beloved dressage mare Midnight, who Sarah's father sold to pay off gambling debts. Along the way, they meet a cast of characters who lend helping, healing hands.
Sarah's mother recently died under suspicious circumstances, and Faith is escaping an abusive marriage. Together, they roam coastal California, following Midnight from show to show, farm to farm. There are conflicts between the two women, but mostly there is acceptance and the realization that leaning on each other is the best way to achieve their goals.
It has become a reliable fact that Ms. Ryan Hyde does not disappoint, and this book is another in a long and growing line of remarkable stories of acceptance and optimism.
