Don't read at night

The author has created many different kinds of stories for this Urban horror collection. I found, while reading, that the author has taken the Urban horror genre to a new level (at least for me).
I consider myself fairly well inoculated against the creepies attendant with good horror - but after this collection is making me reassess that personal conclusion.
When the story demands it, the gore factor is there. Not a lot, but enough to spice the story/legend tale.
What I did find is that the author has a way with the language to instill fear in the reader without relying on gore factor. The prose is spare and tight - nothing unnecessary to the tale. And in most of the tales you think you know the ending - the author throws a knuckle-ball you really didn't see coming, even with tales that have a familiar Urban trope as the basis.
For hard core fans of horror - this is a must read IMHO!
As for myself, I will restrict my future forays into the horror genre to other authors. I cannot withstand another assault of this intensity!
I did receive a copy from a book giveaway.
