Rayne and Jacob were high school sweethearts. Convinced they were mates. When Rayne turned 18, they found they were wrong. Rayne was pregnant and they decided to stay together. Jacob had had enough and left her with a young child and now another on the way. Zac has the best nose in the pack. His wolf has wanted Rayne since she started working for him a few years ago. He has suspected they were mates but he refrained from touching her since she was already mated. Now that she is free, he has to know. Rayne has been drawn to Zac since she met him. When he touched her she know why. They are mates. Can she trust him not to leave, will be love her children. Zac is thrilled to know Rayne is his mate. His wolf is fine with her already having pups. The man isn't so sure how he feels about raising another mans pups. Should they bond to protect their wolves then go their separate ways. When little Annemarie is taken Zac will do anything to find her. An emotionally charged story. I really didn't like Rayne. She comes across as egocentric. Maybe hormones played a part, or reactionary may just be her default. True that mom's are protective and their kids come first. True Jacob could have handled things better, in his leaving. Zac was honest in his feelings and trying to wrap his head around an instant family. Trying to figure everything out. I liked that their happily ever after is a work in progress. Life is messy. I liked that Jacob wasn't vilified. Good story. A little more is learned about what the hunters are up to. A nice to end their story. Looking forward to the next book.
This is the second book in the Denver Troubles series. It's a a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. There's action, adventure, drama, danger, suspense, twist/turns, enemies, survival, intrigue, humor, communication, misunderstandings, family, friends, anger, fear, kidnapping, confusion, romance, passion/lust and love. This is a story about a wolf shifter who doesn't want to imprint with his mate. Why? Maybe it's because of the two children (one daughter and another on the way) from another man and he's not sure if he can raise them as his own. Add into the mix "hunters" who are stealing shifter children. Read to find out what happens. Can't wait to read the next book by this author. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I can completely understand how Rayne was feeling when this story got started. How would you feel if the person you were building a life with just left. These are reason people should always talk in any relationship so everyone knows how each other is feeling.
There will be times you will laugh, but many times as we go through the drama you will even cry. This story will engulf you and you will not want to stop until you are finished. You want to know what is going to happen, because every good story has to have the bad too.
Rayne is afraid she will never find someone to love her after her high school boyfriend/husband leaves her. But she has her daughter to take care of. Zac has wondered for 2 years if Rayne could be his Mate, but stayed away even though she worked for him because she had a husband. Now that her husband is gone, Zac has to figure if he’s ready to be a dad to his Mate’s kid(s).
She doesn't trust men because they leave or at least that is what she tells herself. She settled for a wolf not her true mate instead of waiting. Now her mate not only has to learn her but accept two children not his.
This is book 2 in the series and yes it can be read as a stand-a-lone, I recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of it. True to this author, this series has action, some suspense and those oh so hot moments. I look forward to reading more of this series.
Rayne’s Perfect Mate Rayne is having a bad day. The night before her husband left her and today, she found out she is pregnant. What a mess. She has a six-year-old daughter, Annemarie. She knew that Jacob was not her imprinted mate but they loved each other. Something changed and Jacob left. Rayne’s Dad left her mom, now this is happening to her. Do all men leave when things don’t seem to work out? How will she tell her daughter that Dad/Jacob is not coming back and there will be a new baby? Annemarie notices a strange man outside their house. In the Denver Wolf Pack, there have been child abductions lately and some parents have been killed. Rayne tells Annemarie they will double check later, but her seems to be gone. Rayne has to stop by work at the Hotel where she is the bookkeeper before heading to the grocery store. Zac, her boss has always wondered if Rayne was his mate. She was married and off limits. Now that Jacob left, he could be able to find out. Rayne has always felt the attraction and her wolf seems to know that Zac is hers. How to you tell someone that if they imprint then they have an instant family? Would he even want two children not his own? Would he leave like all the other men she has known? So much stress and it seems as if someone is after Annemarie! Can Zac keep them safe? Will they imprint? This is quite the mystery. Will they solve it and find the children?
Rayne's life is quickly going pear shaped she has just found out that she is pregnant with her second child and her mate Jacob has walked away Yes they weren't true mated they weren't imprinted on one another but she though there was enough between them for them to last. All the men in her life let her down even he father had walked away from her and her mother. When her daughter tells her there is a man outside she checks but he is gone when she i later followed by car she wonders if it is the hunters that are following her. When her boss Zac tells her daughter Annmarie the reason her dad is left was because he parents weren't imprinte then Rayne is furious with him after a conversation to try to sort the argument out when she starts crying during the talk he brushes the tear away and they instantly imprint. What will he do when he finds there is second child on the way who is following Rayne and will he be able to keep her and her family safe and find true love with her.
I was given a copy of this book but this is true and honest review
For adults only (18+ years) Contains subject matter that may be a trigger, or offensive to some, including: adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence (attempted kidnapping, kidnapping, fighting to the death, etc.). If any of these types of situations are a trigger, or offensive, then this may not be the book or series for you.
This is not the first book in the series, but it is the first I have read. It is about wolf shifters being openly known to the world, now being hunted for their young, all while trying to find their perfect mate. I was able to follow along without issue, so it is a standalone without cheating between the H/h, and a HEA. There were several grammatical errors in the copy I read that may or may not have been corrected, but none of them prevented me from understanding the author's intent.
This story is about Rayne, a female wolf shifter, who just found out she is pregnant with her second child, both by her now ex-boyfriend, Jacob. They had both thought they were mates, but didn't imprint on one another when he turned 18. They made the decision to stay together and make it work, until suddenly he walks out just like her dad did.
Zac is the owner of the hotel where Rayne works and has been fighting with his wolf since he met her. His wolf is insistent that she is their perfect mate, but because of her relationship, he has made sure not to touch her. Then he hears that the two of them has split and it could be the right time to see if they are mates, but he is not sure he is ready to be a father.
Rayne just doesn't trust men after being abandoned twice, but her wolf has been throwing a fit and telling her that Zac could be theirs. Can she trust another male not to abandon her and her soon to be two children? Plus would he even be able to accept them when he wasn't the father?
I am going to stop there so I don't accidentally provide any spoilers or twists.
I volunteered to leave a honest review of an ARC from the author and Booksprout.
Second book in the series and can be read as a standalone, but it will be much more enjoyable if you've read the first book. Rayne tried her hardest to make life work with the father of her child despite them not being true mates, but just like her father her partner left her too. And then she discovers she's pregnant. Her emotional roller coaster isn't helped by her wolf pushing her to find out if her boss Zac is her true mate. When danger finds her and her daughter, Zac steps up to the plate despite his reservations on raising 2 kids that aren't his own. This book was an emotion packed tale peppered with action, suspense, and romance as more is discovered about the hunters attacking wolves and kidnapping cubs. Before these two strong-willed characters find their HEA they must first trust in love, fate, and each other.
