Not a travel carseat; installation is difficult
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2019
I used the Chicco keyfit and loved it. When Baby outgrew that, I bought the Britax Marathon for the sitter's car. (She's a new driver and I wanted the highest-rated for safety) I bought the Nextfit for my car based on the great reviews. Plus, it is lighter weight than the Britax Marathon so I thought it would be food for air travel. I have an advanced degree and watched several videos on YouTube but found this to be impossible to install rear facing with a seat belt. It was clear after removing the crotch buckle cover that I was never going to get it threaded again. I wrestled in the backseat of my Honda Accord for 45 minutes before I decided that this simply wasn't the car seat for me. Removing the cover, which is required to thread the seat belt, further convinced me that this is not all that washable. Plus, the fussiness of installation means it's not good for travel. I mean, who's going to spend 45 minutes installing a car seat with the cab meter running? Since it doesn't install quickly and is, therefore, not good for travel, I've decided to return it in favor of a second Britax Marathon. I will say that that the fabric on the Nextfit was softer and more plush that then Britax. So maybe it's better for car trips. But in no way was this as easy to install as the Keyfit or the Britax . . . and since it isn't any cheaper or safer than Britax, that seems like the much better choice for our family.
