I just put together a new build system with a Ryzen 5 2600x processor and an Asus motherboard. Instead of putting a wifi card on the inside, I purchased this wifi antenna for the simplicity. Every other computer I had was a prebuild that had wifi and windows installed already and I never used a wifi antenna. After looking at a bunch of these devices on Amazon, I opted for this one because of the good reviews, the detachable antenna part, and not being an antenna that required a cable and had to be placed somewhere around the computer like rabbit ears. I actually used this adapter without the antenna screwed onto it for a bit just to see how strong it was. It actually worked fine without the antenna, but I'm only about 20 feet away from the home router. I put the antenna back on just to strengthen the signal. The best part about this is that it was just plug and play. I plugged it in to a usb port before I even had windows 10 fully installed so windows could look for an update. I wasn't sure I would be able to do that because before windows 10 was fully installed, there were no drivers installed on my new build. But, even before Windows 10 was fully on the computer and the windows installer recognized there was a wifi antenna plugged into a usb port and as soon as I logged into our home wifi, it was up and running. I typically get 250+mbps when I'm wired directly into the router/modem. My old Dell system with windows 7 and a 5 year old i7 chip was getting about 25 mbps through wifi. My new build with this antenna is getting well over 100+ mbps give or take some depending on how busy the wifi is being used at any given time. So far it's been great and super simple to set up and use. I just plugged it in and selected to connect to my home network a few seconds later.
Update January 2020: WiFi antenna still working well. I haven't had any issues with the device stopping or not picking up the wifi. Still working well over a year later.
