I'm not much of a gamer, but I needed some better headphones with a mic for online training, meetings, and occasionally watching movies & TV on my PC. This headset works great and is lighter than the headphones I had been using with my PC. It was mainly designed for Xbox One and PS4, and it has a sleeve for each of those that goes over the plug; for a PC, just leave the sleeves off the plug. The microphone is flexible and, as pictured, is removable. Volume control is on the plug, and mute switch is at the Y-junction of the cord. Cord is a little short for my purposes due to my PC location, but again, it wasn't designed for that. Headset fits my head fine on the last notches -- people with larger heads may have issues with the fit. Should work fine for kids Ear cups are soft and cover my ears entirely. Came with an activation code for Dolby Atmos to redeem on Xbox Live or the Microsoft Store -- you'll need an Xbox One or a Win 10 device to use Atmos.
At the time of this writing, Plantronics apparently no longer carries the RIG line. Instead, RIG is now a Nacon brand. So I got this headset for a much better deal than a current Nacon RIG or when this model first came out. If you are looking for a really good headset at a really good price, I recommend this one.
Update (about 2-3 weeks later):
The head band is also adjustable. I raised it to the upper notches, allowing for more headspace. Consequently, I put the phones in their middle notches. Basically, there are two positions for the removable headband, and three positions for the removable phones. Should be plenty of configurations for adult- and child-size heads.
Also, the Dolby Atmos on my PC with these headphones works REALLY well! At first I thought there was something wrong with my volume or audio while I was watching amateur YouTube videos; then I realized that Atmos was very effectively replaying the sound as it was recorded, with people talking toward and then away from the camera/mic, moving around relative to the mic, background noises, etc. Nothing like amazing playback to make you appreciate the work that goes into proper sound recording.
