Poorly done: juvenile
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019
I am sorry I did not read the reviews before I bought this. "Bumbling" hero is an understatement. I read the first book of the series, and did not realize that the "series" was going to go nowhere. The hero is a bumbling boob who is unable to resist impulsively charging into circumstances beyond his, or his "friends", capability. This hero gives new meaning to the TSTL designation for a particularly stupid protagonist. The villains and evil creatures are poorly delineated. The plot's "training" for this super-mage was left nearly entirely unstated, and the source of any of this super-mage-to-be's successes or skills was left to everyone's imagination. Why any of the other characters would be friendly, or like, or even respect this sort of TSTL incompetent is also left to a reader's imagination. This book, and its companion books are poorly plotted. To my viewpoint, any five-star, or even four star review for a juvenile work of this sort is highly suspect as being fabricated spam. This book, and its companions will be deleted from my files.
