Art Lab for Kids Express Yourself was written by Susan Schwake and is a follow-up to the book Art Lab for Kids. Summary: This book provides 52 creative adventures for kids-enabling them to discover new art techniques, as well as their own personal style. My Thoughts: I am a big fan of the lab series for kids, and this is another fun one. One of my favorite things about this book-all of the step-by-step pictures. I am very visual when creating art, and seeing exactly what each step should look like, really helps me communicate the projects better to my kids. The instructions were very clear and concise, and there were plenty of diverse projects to choose from-meaning you are sure to find something your child or student would enjoy. The projects start out quite simply, with minimal supplies, and kids will find plenty of varied projects to explore. In the beginning units, I would say students five and up can complete the projects, but as the units progress, there are definitely a few I would leave for those ages 9 and up. Overall, this is a great start-up book for anyone that is looking for easy, clearly-defined art projects for kids. I would like to thank Quarry Books for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you.

i'm not really sure how Susan continues to come up with fantastic projects for kids to make and do. this book is the last installment of her amazing string of books that not only walk you through how to make a piece of art, but also helps kids [and let's be frank if you are an adult starting out wanting to get creative, or just need a push these projects would be great for you too] figure out how to make choices and develop so that they can express THEMSELVES - not just copy the project as it stands in the book. as an educator and mom i can't emphasize what a true gift that is. kids thrive when they learn to express themselves clearly and art [this book] is the perfect platform to get them started, or motivate them on their journey.

The author's main intention is to stimulate the creative thought process in children through artwork. Children are strongly encouraged to express themselves through their own ideas - their own interpretations. It is suggested that for many children creativity needs to be nurtured. This process takes time and is most easily accomplished through repetition. Quite inspiring, wonderful illustrations depict children in the process of being creative in their own way. This is a must-have book for the development of a child on many levels.
I offer my gratitude to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group / Quarry Books for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

We love this book as much as all of Susan's previous Art Lab Books. It is full of inspiring and accessible ideas for kids of varying ages. Most of the projects use materials that most people have on-hand but the projects in the book encourage you to use them in a new and exciting way.

I love this book for the versatility of the projects! They can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages and require supplies that are easy to come by and can be used for multiple projects. The guidelines of each project give each child the confidence and freedom to express creativity that is true to themselves!
This book represents everything we love about Susan’s teaching style and classes. There’s such a wonderful mix of projects that inspire our daughter’s creativity. They are easy to do at home and can be done an endless number of times as the outcome will always be different! We got a copy for ourselves and two more for gifts! The book is also a great resource for home birthday parties and family art “nights” (like a game night or movie night).

This book offers lots of activities for artistic kids of a range of ages. Many can be done with minimal supplies, while others allow for great creativity with the investment of just a few arts and crafts items. The step-by-step photos and illustrations are great for helping kids learn and develop a plan for their designs. My daughter loves working through the whole book!
