Takes some effort
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2020
When my son's watch broke within 3 months of purchase, I contacted SquareTrade to get a replacement or refund; they instead deferred me to the Manufacturer. After 3 months of attempting to contact them, I finally went back to Squaretrade. Since I could not file a claim online ("your item is still covered by the manufacturer"), I called their "international" number (the websites is full of circular links that just take you back to the "file a claim online" page) and spoke with a real person in short order. They spent some time confirming that the item was covered, etc. and then told me they could reimburse me for the depreciated value of the item. Meanwhile, the watch itself had increased in price on Amazon, so I was even further from being able to replace it...with a "full coverage" warranty. I said this was not acceptable, and after additional time speaking with their manager, I was able to secure a full refund (less tax). In the end, SquareTrade did hold up their end of the agreement, but it took far more effort than I feel it should have.
