I LOVED this story! This is a great introduction to the I Bring the Fire series. Here, we see Sigyn and her love for others... and she grieves at the horrors she encounters on Midgard (Earth)... how terrible humans can be to each other...
In this story C. Gockel gives us the back story to Loki from his ex wife's point of view. We can see that Sigyn is a good wife and tries to not only stand by her man but also protect him from others' machinations. She sees the good in Loki - even if he can't.
I love that the author gave Sigyn her own story and showed us how strong she is despite what others think. She loves her family, and she will do anything to save her sons with Loki's help.
We are given a fresh look into Asgard and the major figures of Norse mythology. Who we were led to believe were good are not necessarily so... the same goes with those who were originally depicted as bad. We don't have the strict categories of the characters as they are indeed a blend of both good and evil - and somewhere in the middle. This is where I find the story so much more entertaining! (And... there is a glimpse of our historical events as viewed by Asgardians!)
I love this story! I bought it and the complete series! The more I read, the more I love the saga of Loki.
