I was searching for "adventure books for little boys" to buy for my son for his 5th birthday. This book came up in the top recommended choices, and seemed much more appealing than the others. The copy we received was signed by Maria Kamoulakou, which was a nice personal touch. The chapters are short and full of description with illustrations on each page, but the book itself is not short; which we prefer. We like to have a new chapter every night. I highly recommend Arthur The Fly-Slayer for anyone looking for great adventure stories. We will be looking out for other books by Mrs. Kamoulakou!
We have 6 grandchildren of all ages and they all got a wonderful experience by listening to us read, and by reading to themselves about this clever young man, Arthur! By having different stopping points, we were able to continue our story later for the younger grandchildren, a wonderful tale enjoyed by young and old alike!
I purchased this book for twins, my niece & nephew They LOVED the story so very much! As their parents loved it as well! Not to give the story away so I wont but I will say the illustrations were perfect! & so beautiful written! DEFINITELY FUN TO LISTEN TO OR READ!! *A Childs Fairytale* Hope to see more from this author. I highly recommend this book🙂
My son is reading chapter books now but he really enjoyed this. I can imagine kids moving from picture books to chapter finding this a great read. The story is so wonderful for boys to feed their adventurous side. The details given are so wonderful and the illustration appealed to him as well.
The retold fable was delightful and the illustrations fabulous. (To me, the Granny prologue was unnecessary. The ebook formatting required ongoing hold and spread for each page to read the text on my Kindle.)
My daughter loves dragon stories, so she was really excited to start this book! She loved the detailed illustrations and after reading just the first few pages she was hooked. She really enjoyed reading this book. The fact that it was a story that was passed down through the generations made it feel extra special to me. Lovely classic tale!

What a wonderful story! This will be a hit with your children, as it was with mine! It is witty, smartly written, and keeps children wondering what Arthur will do next in order to save a village from dragons. I love how the author has readers following him along on his journey of outsmarting a band of thieving, dangerous dragons. We thoroughly enjoyed reading this book!
Living in a village as a blacksmith's son, Arthur learned responsibility but found moments to daydream of meeting his matches. The sword that Arthur made gave him the courage to stand tall and move forward not allowing flies or forty dragons to get in his way and to spare the lives of his village folks. A wonderful children's book with pages of colorful illustrations and a Glossary to help with the definition of words throughout this fairy tale. I highly recommend this book.
This is one of the best children's fantasy/adventure books you can get! Beautifully written and illustrated. This book combines history and fantasy which is great for kids to learn and use their imagination simultaneously. It tells a double story - a story for children and a story for adults who can make connections with reality. Highly recommend!!!
