Blue and Toad get home just as the storm is beginning. Wouldn't you know it? Soon all of their animal friends want to join them. Heavy rain and lightning are no fun! What I didn't understand was why they couldn't take shelter on the farm. Most farms with animals have a barn. When Blue drove everyone home, the pig had his own dog (pig) house. Everyone else could have sheltered together in the barn. The goat was half in, half out of the barn, and the cow was just outside it. The other animals were much closer to the barn than Blue's garage. I suppose even pig could have gone in the barn since he was clearly able to get out of his fence and go to Blue's. Surely if all the animals were together they wouldn't have been afraid. Apparently that is incorrect though since they sheltered with Blue until the storm passed. And then how likely is it that a storm will end just at the time everyone has to go to sleep?
That was stretching it, but the real problem is that Blue stuck his nose out of his garage, and Toad sat on the hood. Other animals were poking out the sides or from under Blue. Kids, do NOT do that! It is better to stay home and be frightened than to position yourself around a metal truck in a thunderstorm! Yes, Blue was only sticking out of the garage a little bit, but one unlucky strike of lightning would have been disastrous for ALL of the friends! I KNOW what lighting can do! There should have been no metal even close to the outdoors in this situation. Not very smart on the author's part.
Such a cute story with all the original characters from Blue Trucks adventures! I love how they all huddle together and each character is loving and has their own little moments. My daughter loved this read.
