Living Powerfully and Compassionately
Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2018
I had a very cursory knowledge of the enneagram prior to reading "Who you Are Meant To Be: The Enneagram Effect." After reading this book, I came away with a much greater depth of knowledge and appreciation for the power inherent in applying eeneagram principles in our lives. The author's writing style is clear, relaxed and relatable. It's an easy book to read and yet the material contained in the book is profound. The author's numerous examples bring the subject matter to life. The book characterizes the nine enneagram types, their strengths and challenges, their area of avoidance, their driving passion, their wellness map and clear strategies that would assist each type in living out their highest potential. The author also describes the potential shadow side that each type possesses when not living authentically. Her explanation of that area helps us embrace self-acceptance and self-forgiveness and very importantly, forgiveness toward others whose behaviors we have judged and condemned. After reading this book, I walked away with a greater depth of empathy and compassion for others. The author explains that through self-awareness and the practice of living out the higher potential of our enneagram types, we gain the benefits of emotional regulation, clarity and self-mastery.
