Well researched. Written using language ,place in time. I was impressed with the writers knowledge of Appalachia. The Pack Horse Librarians. She wrote a believable story of a young girl that had a hard life because of the color of her skin. Gave her courage,knowledge,compassion. A very unusual name I had never heard before. Pronounced different than you think. You will be her champion from the very first. Cry with ,laugh feel her loss ,the anguish , At times you will want to reach in the book and slap someone and enjoy her journey. Her patrons will become alive to you and you are wondering how they will all fit in a librarian life but for they do. The history of the Pack Horse Librarians is a story in its own. Kim writes so well you are right there on the trail.,feel the quietness of the forrest and the mountains. Anticipation of the next book drop. I had to do some research my self about Blue people didn't know at first of they were real or just in her imagination. They are a very interesting subject. Well worth your time to read this book. I wonder who you will choose to be your favorite patron.
