Penang Pixie is the 3rd book in the Southeast Asia branch of the Paranormal Police Department, so if you haven't read the first 2, start there and then come back. I'll wait. Ready? Ok, take a deep breath before starting this book because it's like a Schwarzenegger or Rock movie in that it starts with an action scene and never lets up! Somehow, even with all the crazy action going on, John P Logsdon and Noah Sturdevant somehow weave an intricate and satisfying web out of the team's personal relationships. I'm really excited to see where this series goes next!
All of the Verdi’s stories have interesting twists; that said, as much as I liked this story - and I did - worth every penny, there seems to be a growing emphasis on being pc. “Gotta give the woman her due” almost to excess. Mark seems whipped and I don’t like that in a character. I know the author is trying to strike a balance, but after watching Vedis cringe from his girlfriend’s wrath multiple times, it’s hard to take him seriously as a kick ass demon/warlock. There’s an over-abundance of estrogen in this one - and that’s coming from a female reader. JMO.
Mark, Bert, and Mira are back, and they are up to their necks in trouble just like always. I love the fast-paced fun action of this series, and every minute reading this book was filled with fun and great writing. This is fast becoming my favorite series in the PPD universe…until, I’m sure, I read the next one from someone else! LOL! Oh, and there were a couple exciting revelations in here if you have read the previous two books; I can’t wait to see how they are going to shake out and affect the crew. If you love fun, snark, great characters, and wonderful writing, give this highly entertaining book a try. I do recommend!
Penang Pixie continues with Mark and Mira continue to battle Shapers in exciting battles and against amazing odds. There are personal revelations that they both face that give the story depth and a deeper understanding of Mark and Mira's characters. As always, Noah Sturdevant and John Logsdon entertain you with snark, magic, and exciting twists; Penang Pixie is no exception to that. This is a must read for lovers of supernatural books and it's a wonderful additional to the Paranormal Police Department series.
Mark Vedis and his crew have another run in with the Shaped. He’s moving up the food chain and discovering who is responsible for this mess. In between hunting the Shaped, romance blossoms for members of the team. True to form the authors have a number of guffaw-worthy jokes about male members. They also manage to expand my urban dictionary vocabulary. A spicy and fun addition to the PPD universe.
Another story from the PPD. A bit of action served with a side of humor, I loved this book and have begun the next one in the series. A grumpy warlock whose girlfriend is a Naga, and whose side kick is a 4-foot tall demon fight crime or the paranormal variety in Southeast Asia.
This addition to the series has lots that uncovers and explains about the main characters past and keeps this with the enemy developments moving closer, to point getting to close to home for the main characters. New surprises are lay out and possibilities for next books are hint at. can not wait to see what happens next
The third in this series, Mark is dealing with a lot. A dragon wants to marry him, he wants to marry his girlfriend, and the bad guys are still.using the crime rings for very unwelcome activities. Add in a boss.with a slight personality issue, and things are not looking good for peaceful romantic interludes.
What more couldv you ask for ? The team is lead by the last Warlock, his girlfriend is a weresnake, his best cfriend is The Crown Prince of Demons. His boss is a hard drinking, foul mouthed Pixie. Together they kick ass.
