How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat light. Bright, low power draw, easy to mount.
Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2019
TL;DR
Bright. Much less power than conventional light. Doesn't get hot. Great light. Buy it.

The full story
I'm doing some remodeling around the house, and I needed something brighter than the low budget clamp on lights I had. I wanted LED lights because of their reduced power consumption and cooler operation. I also wanted a 5000K light, since that color is close to daylight; not too warm, not too blue. This light fit the requirements, so I gave it a try.

It's a great light. Very bright, with a smooth, broad beam; no hot spot. Runs warm, but not hot, to the touch. If you've ever touched a quartz light after it's been on for a while and gotten the manufacturer's logo burned into your finger, you'll appreciate this feature. I plugged the light into a power meter; it draws about 57 watts. You can put a couple of these on an extension cord without worrying about burning down the house.

I mounted the light to a low budget photographic light stand. The hole in the bottom of the bracket on the light will accommodate a 1/4" x 20 screw. That is the most common size for light stands and tripods. I used a fender washer and wingnut to fasten the light to the thread on the stand (see picture).

A couple of minor points make it a touch less than perfect for my application. The cord is about 4 1/2 feet long, so I need an extension cord. And it doesn't have a power switch, so it has to be unplugged to turn it off. Both of these are easily fixed. A cheap extension cord works fine (low power draw). I bought a switch from Amazon that plugs in between the extension cord and the light so I don't have to unplug it all the time.

To be fair, these aren't marketed as work lights, so the cord and switch issue is unique to the way I'm using them. If you were mounting them on the garage as flood lights, they would be perfect as is.

In summary: very happy with this light. Bright, low power draw, easy to mount.

1.0 out of 5 starsWill fail in the rain.
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2019
Overall the lights are bright and seemed to work well. After a few weeks outside and a few rain storms they failed. Water seemed to leak inside the lights. Not as water proof or water resistant as described. If using outside I’d reconsider these lights.

Installed easily. Nice and bright. First time it rained they had moisture inside. Water inside has increased with every rain, and now they are literally half full of standing water and don't work anymore. Don't waste your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good replacement for halogens in my shop work light. Great price. Power rating is accurate
Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2019
Verified Purchase
I replaced two 500 Watt halogen lights on a work light tripod with this pair of lights. They run very cool, of course. The halogens they replaced were extremely hot and ruined more than one thing in my garage. In contrast to the halogens, the LED beams are very broad and smooth, without the light and dark patches of the halogen and the safety cage. Using the hardware already on my work light, they bolted on in about 30 seconds. The built-in cords are a big bonus. Sometimes I aim one at the ceiling to provide more distributed light across my project. I won't worry about bulbs again. I have replaced perhaps 8 bulbs PLUS a bulb holder in the halogens.

The power rating is accurate, (118 Watts for the 60 Watt pair) which is actually a very GOOD sign, since the brightness is probably accurate, too. Comparison: I ordered a separate 500W LED flood (different brand) that consumes only 348W (I measured it), which probably implies that its brightness is much lower than promised. I will be sending that one back.

The 5000K is a cooler light spectrum, without getting too blue, and I might have preferred 4000K. These are 6,500 lumens each, which is lower than the theoretical 10,000 lumen output of the 500 Watt halogens they replaced, but I don't mind, especially since I can place them closer to my work without setting them ablaze. You can pay a lot more to get a brigher pair of floods, but I don't think you need to. This is a cheaper alternative than buying a new LED work light.

One minor drawback is that I can't tilt them down more than about 10 degrees, but if I adjust the tripod itself a little lower, it works fine, and since the beams are so broad, there are no downward shadows from the housing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indoor use - add a diffuser
Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2019
Verified Purchase
I have a dark condo that faces north, and I work from home and wanted it to be brighter. I set up four of these just above my main window, and it tremendously helps brighten up the place. CRI is important for indoor use so the colors stay natural, and this one has a CRI of 80+, which is the highest you are going to get for anything in this price range. If you want a 90+ CRI or 95+, you either have to daisy chain together multiple higher power light bulbs (like the 100w 5000k daylight bulb sold by FEIT, available here or at Costco) or use very expensive high powered photography LED panels, that run for $140 and up each. For indoor use, add a diffuser to make the light less harsh https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDP5PSJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 Pack Bright Flood Lighting

╠ ☼ Overall: 5/5
╠ ►Product Need: Outdoor daylight flood light
╠ ►Product Pros: Bright, white color, waterproof, guarantee
╠ ►Cons to Consider: 5’ cord
╠ ►My Review: I only had a portion of my backyard lit up and needed more lighting. I have bought from this company and was more than pleased with the products and customer service after losing a remote. These 2 packs of bright flood lights is no exception and a great addition. The build quality is great and heavy duty with no issues with the waterproof seal. The light itself is very bright for its size holding true to its 6500 lumen brightness at the nice daylight 5000 kelvin range. I have no issues with leaving the product on all night either as it doesn’t drain power at all. The best part of the product is the guarantee the product holds and since I have dealt with them before know they will hold to the claim. The only thing I can find wrong is the power cord to be shorter than I need thus requiring a extension cord. I think the price is right on target for the product and would highly recommend to anyone looking to add a lot of light to an general unspecific area.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be Wary - Definitely not waterproof
Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2021

Like others have described, these lights aren't waterproof at all. I really don't know how they have so many good ratings but I bought these over a year ago. I played with them a bit but didn't permanently mount them outside. They've been in a box in a relatively humid room since then. I recently got them out to mount them permanently and discovered they've yellowed a lot just from the moisture in the air. I have no doubt they'd fail in the first rainstorm, or even just from the morning dew. Unfortunately they're way past my return period so I'm stuck with them. Perhaps I'll find a use for them inside. At the very least they do get very bright, which is good. But be warned, the description is utterly false. Don't purchase these if you need them outside.

3.0 out of 5 stars Can land planes, so bright
Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2021

Ok, my backyard spotlights needed replaced and I had immediate need for light out back.....I suspected skunks were digging for grubs..... These lights may not have deterred critters ( may have lit the way to find easier, lol) but I am sure they kept neighbors and serial killers away! You could land planes with these they were that bright. So far, they are working even with rainy weather. Still have mystery holes in ground, but I am happy to have a nice bright light for back yard until I replace floodlights. Maybe I'll start a stadium....

Ok update review, I am knocking off 2 stars. After not even a month, light is filled with condensation. Not much good if is an outdoor light. Still works, but not happy that it fills with water.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate longevity claims.
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2020

The LED’s may last a long time but the driver circuitry does not. Installed one of the two purchased units in June and it failed the first of November. A post mortem on failed units shows no moisture failures so the manufacturers are skimping on the power conversion circuitry, which is surface mount and non repairable, to the detriment of longevity. The advertising is simply not accurate or correct. However, they are relatively easy to replace and very bright.

I bought this product through Amazon and I am very happy with the product. Except I wish the cord was longer. I had to buy a extension cord to connect into the wall. This product is extremely bright. I bought a set of 2 I was really happy with the product and I end up getting another one for my neighbor. After installing this item I see a big difference in the neighborhood. Some people are scared due to the brightness that detect thieves. I installed this under the roof so it’s prone to no water or damages to the unit. I recommend this item to everyone. And once again Amazon did a great job delivering this product on time. Thanks.
