Great book, but check for missing pages

Update: We sent our first copy back due to the missing pages. They sent us a replacement copy with same missing pages. I also see another reviewer is also missing the same pages. I think there is a quality issue that is not yet resolved.

Check your book for missing pages. Ours looked totally normal, but pages 191-238 were missing. Not torn out, just never bound in the book. Otherwise, the book is full of good, useful information.

Look carefully at ports this includes

I love Rick Steve's books and own several. We are going on our first cruise next year, a West Mediterranean cruise, so I got this excited to read about the port cities we would be visiting. I was sad to discover that only one of our seven ports are in this book. It definitely feels like a waist of $20+ to read about one port. It's partially my fault though, I should have read carefully which ports were discussed in the book before purchasing. I just assumed he would say a little bit about them all. So don't make the same mistake. On the other hand he does give some basic cruise travel guidance for anyone new to cruising. I found that info very helpful. Just make sure your ports are in this book before purchasing.

I am a Rick Steeves fan, and have read many of his travel books. While I enjoyed all the information in this book, I was very disappointed to find that Istanbul, Ephesus, and The Port of Kusadasi are NOT included in this book. They were specifically listed in the book's description here on Amazon, but that information is not correct.

I’m disgusted with the lack of information given in the book. First, let’s mention Civitavecchia. Yes, that is the seaport used to get into Rome. All the information given was from previous books about what to do in Rome. The author does not describe any alternative excursions to other areas for the passengers who don’t want to see Rome again. That was what I was looking for! My cruise is also sailing around Spain starting in Lisbon. The only port mentioned in Spain is Barcelona! Honestly, what happened to Alicante, Valencia and several others. I learned more from Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor about what to do in these ports. Unless you are a newbie to cruising the Mediterranean, don’t waste $25!

We are going on a 12 day cruise from Barcelona to Barcelona and the only port not covered was Corfu, Greece. Very helpful along with internet research and our friends joining us have to been to Italy. We thought it would be a good cruise for our first Med Cruise. We live in Florida and have been to West Coast California, Alaska and mostly the Carribbean. My husband has had alot of experience booking our own shore excursions in the Carribbean and some of the other cruises, but bought this book since the cost to do anything ashore in Europe is quite a bit pricier. We are also celebrating our daughters Bachelor Degree (and her godfather, a priest is coming from Connecticut, so we can meet to make the long flight to Spain with him.) Really looking forward to this special trip and the great advice we received from the book that was affirmed from our friends that went to Italy. It will be a nice overview, so we can see where we want to revisit.

A tip. Get air pods (or similar). You put one in one ear, your travel partner puts the other one in their ear. You listen to the same thing at the same time!

It's very detailed for the ports it covers but leaves out many ports. For example, the only port it covers in Spain in Barcelona. And for the ports it does cover, it's like it took information from regular travel guides without really customizing it for cruiser's needs. I would have liked to see many more ports covered at the expense of the extensive detail information for ports like Athens.

Very disappointing that it does not include all ports listed as included in the book. I specifically picked this one over just Greece because it says it includes Instanbul and Kusadasi but it DOESN'T. I didn't read reviews as i have bought Rick Steve's books before. I now see this has been stated before and they choose NOT to update the description? No excuse.
