Human Interface SUCKS BIG TIME! Possibly a useful tool, but maybe destined for the wood chipper!

This was the first time I've done more than play with it for 3 minutes since I got it. I was quite happy with the clarity of the text on the screen. Smaller graphics that I couldn't zoom in on, not so much. The good new is that my eyes didn't hurt after I read a 130 page book, like it does with my FIRE tablet. I read the book, figured out how to highlight some passages, take some notes, but then tried to exit the book....
I couldn't figure out how to do that because NOTHING I tried got me to a menu that would let me out of the book!
I had to Google it and then found out that you have to tap near the top of the screen (ON A PAGE WHERE THER ISN'T HIGHLIGHTING UNDERNEATH WHERE YOU'RE TAPPING!) in order to get it to open up a menu that will allow you to exit the book and go back to your library screen.
By the time I figured that out I was ROYALY PISSED and about ready to throw it into a wood chipper! (...which I would have had to purchase from Amazon too!)
The onboard manual and quick start guide did NOT help me at all! That information should have been at the TOP of the manual, or at least right after the "getting started" section on charging.
Thank god for Google and YouTube!
The other thing that SUCKS is that when reviewing the Highlights AND Notes they are grouped together and can't be searched or separately viewed as "highlights" and "notes." I had probably 50 highlights that I had to manually scroll through looking for the tiny "Note" indicator in order to find the second of 3 notes so I could leave a review for the book. I didn't see #2 until I backtracked from seeing #3, which tells you how hard they are to notice.
As far as I can tell from my first experience, Kindles are VERY difficult to use for anything other than linear reading of a book. If you're just flipping from one page to the next, it appears to be OK.
If you're wanting to search for something or use the book as a reference to do a process, you're in for an extremely frustrating nightmare! If that's what you need to do, BUY A PHYSICAL BOOK not an ebook! Your blood pressure will thank you!
I'm damn close to returning the kindle because of how frustrating it is to use. I guess I'll give it another try and then decide whether to keep it, return it, or feed it to my upcoming purchase of an Amazon wood chipper if they won't take it back!
