How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsOld School Creature Feature!!
Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2021
This book reminds me of the old Saturday afternoon creature feature movies. A man, his son and his girlfriend and her daughter go to the woods to spend the weekend at the man's cabin where his whole family disappeared from 40 years ago. Never a trace of them found. Two other families have also disappeared over the years. What they find is a forest creature and its lair, filled with bones. Human and non human. Read the book to see what happens. I highly recommend this book. You'll love it!!

1.0 out of 5 starsA snoozer of epic proportions
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2019
This books rating as a best seller astounds me. The only top rating it earned for me was last place in all of the books I have ever read. A snails pace story that embodies a minute by minute account of a long family vacation/trip that has the reader grimacing in pain at the plodding, bored out of your mind narrative. If you have ever been on a long road trip with children in tow, you will get to re-experience, in detail the road conditions( we drove down bumpy roads) and mindless conversations (are we there yet?are we there yet? Are we there yet?) When they finally get there, mosquito man is about as scary and psychologically thrilling as a slug covered in salt. This is a book that the publisher should pay you to read, as you are going to mentally suffer during the time it takes you to finish and rush this book to the recycle bin.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not your average big bug read

Seriously, this was the worst book I've read in a very long time. The actor's were horrible with inane dialog blathering on interminably, their fates so predictable. I had hoped for more, but hope really is not a strategy. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone of any age or intellect. Horrible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not edge-of-seat stuff

I read this to the end, to see how the author would pull together the strings of the story. However, my goodness, does he spoil the tension completely by having pages and pages and pages of two small kids bickering! Every word is reported ... was he padding out his tale? I sometimes skipped over the endless child chat to get to the real story. This completely spoiled the "thrilling" part for me. To stop the thread of tension is almost unforgiveable in a book described as a thriller. I found the explanation in the end, and the description of the mine, too way out. I also cannot understand how the persons mentioned (no spoilers) managed to find their way back through the confusing tunnels. To me, not a succesful thriller.

Mosquito 🦟 man was one of the best thrillers that I have read in a while! I didn’t want to put the book down. Now my son who hates reading books 📖 is going to read it. Getting ready to read The sleep Experiment next. If the author Jeremy Bates reads these reviews could you please let me know if you wrote or are going to write more about the main characters and what happened with them? I’m dying to know. Thank you for a great book!

I’ll admit I felt it started off a bit slow, but as soon as it picked up it was an instant thrill tide to the last page. Creepy because of the imagery painted by the author. Creepy from the tale and a bit more creepy because is there a portion that could very well be possible. You decide, and I recommend you do.

Really good beginning. Excellent characters and you can feel the scenery. Then the book seems to hit a wall about halfway through. It just stalls out. Then gets going again but by then you don't care. The ending sucked. I felt that all the stalling and boredom around middle could have been used to set up a better ending but it was downright depressing.

Most of the time I don't do book reviews on here but I felt I must. This book was absolutely fantastic! Well written, scary, thrilling, and not written in that "dumbed down" kind of way. Well worth what I spent! Please keep writing and honing your skills.

Mosquito Man was honestly an edge of your seat thriller. I have to confess I found it free on a book site and thought, ha...what a crock but I read everything. I read this in one night, alone. And was creeped out most of the night. Yes, I skimmed the history lesson and long descriptive narratives, and the children arguing but the book was a thriller. Kept me reading.
