Reliably good read—and superb style

Maigret never fails to satisfy, and the plot twists in his elegantly written mysteries are unexpected and fresh, even when you’ve read many of his works. This one is no exception. The characters are deftly drawn, and you get interested in the fate of an entire array of interesting lives. Fine to read and re-read any time, but especially in summer, when you can read right though one in half an afternoon.
