Not as good as his first album
Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2019
I had a hard time going through this one I’ll be honest...
I had high hopes cuz I love Khalid’s first album. It was unique, 80s inspired, really showcased his voice, and the songs sounded different from one another for the most part.
That album was one of my favs of 2017.
This new album: There’s 17 tracks and about 6 of them I felt were memorable (including the singles heard on the radio)
The rest of the songs sounded too similar and just kind of generic pop r&b. It wasn’t fresh like his first album. And there were moments where his voice was buried in the music and beats.
It was kinda of exhausting going through this 17 track album.
I’m disappointed in his album but it’s still good nonetheless because there’s a few gems hidden in there.
Sophomore albums are always gonna be tough to please everyone.
BUY it and listen to it yourself and make your own opinions.
