MARTIAN LEGACY continues where the Quadrilogy books leaves off, and what a new beginning. With Ozzy Mack now being a member of the Galactic Knights I am happy to see his continuing growth. This book continues the problem of the Dunrakees and their intent of destroying all humans. I couldn't wait to hear what the Gaia Stones had to say and along with Lyra was disappointed not to know the whole thing. But then it was discovoured where the missing Gaia Stones are and hope swelled again. Way to go with the roller coaster of emotions Brandon Ellis. I am really looking forward to the next book MARTIAN KYRA to see what happens next. I am so hooked on this series!
Ellis is definitely at his best with his latest installment in this series, Martian Legacy. The master storyteller takes us on another dynamic adventure with our hero, Ozzy. This time the fate of our race is literally in his hands. With the help of the Galactic Knights, Ozzy fights a running battle to save what is left of the human race. The action is non-stop and will grip your attention up till the last page. I award this novel 5 Stars!
Book 5 finds our intrepid Hero (Ozzie Mack - Mars Archaeologist in the period after the Fall of Earth to the Dunrakee) once again skipping gaily from the frying pan into, this time, the supernova. Now Mars is about to be conquered by the Dunrakee, and it's all Ozzie's fault! Here's where the adventure improves as Ozzie has, in fact, learned to make better mistakes! Instead of falling into hot plasma due to greed or laziness, Ozzie allowed the Dunrakee race to live because Ozzie has had an epiphany. The Dunrakee are 'all too human'. This book details Ozzie's nearly Faustian path following his truly honorable decision.
Action continues to abound in Ellis' cosmic swashbuckling style. However, Ozzie's metamorphosis into a complex, tragic character comes at a price, to him - and to us: characters keep dying, or worse. This time it's his ex-wife, the mother of his daughter who has met her end simply from being involved with Ozzie. And his brother has been brain-washed into a 'Super Soldier' to be cannon-fodder in Mars' ill-considered "defense" against the Dunrakee...or will he?
This chain-murder of characters is beginning to be as predictable as was seen on Star Gate: Universe where every week you knew that s o m e o n e was going to die. Just as Ozzie is becoming an estimable character, will Brian Ellis run out of his supporting cast? Will Ozzie flee to the rumored Colony in the Gas Giants? Tune in for Book 6 to learn...some more😎
This is Brian Ellis' best work to date that I have read. More than a workman-like execution of diversion, the main character is attaining full stature and breadth and the plot has greater complexity than in previous opi. I want to read the next book not just to see what happens to Ozzie but for what happens with Ellis' evolution as an author as well In short, 'Bravo, Brian!'
Summary: Ozzy decided that it wasn’t right to kill off all of the Dunrakee after so many of them put their lives on the line to protect and save him. After meeting a young girl about his daughters age he just couldn’t do it. Now the Dunrakee military is determined to kill all humans and take over Mars like they did Earth. It seems that no good deed goes unpunished, but thing might not be a clear as they seem. Ozzy manages to find Lilly, his daughter, but the cost is high. Now there may be hidden groups that could help Humanity if Ozzy can decode the messages left eons ago by the ancient Martians, but will there be enough time.
This book was a wild ride from the very start. Ozzy knows he did the right thing, but the cost in human lives is terrible. It was fascinating how Ozzy’s determination to save his family was at odds with what he knows to be true. His struggle with his decisions makes him more human than the leadership of Mars who will do what they can to maintain their power not caring who lives or dies. The mystery of Ozzy’s blood line and how it could save everyone is yet to be revealed and I for one can’t wait to see what happens next in the next Mars Colony Chronicles book.
